Daegu Thai restaurant for two: snow cheese kai phrai at Thai Yami

In short

Thai Yami is a Thai restaurant in Gyodong, Jung-gu, Daegu, tucked behind the Novotel near Jungangno Station. On a visit with a friend, Thai Yami's kai phrai (21,000 won), pad thai, and fresh-squeezed orange juice made the table, and the snow-cheese-topped boneless fried chicken paired well with the sweet pad thai full of bean sprouts and beef brisket. 🐷 We ordered kai phrai, pad thai, and fresh-squeezed orange juice

Starter crackers with corn salad and fresh-squeezed orange juice

The complimentary side is crackers with corn salad. It's onion, cabbage, and corn kernels in a mayo-sugar mix, so piled on a cracker it tastes sweet. The fresh-squeezed orange juice had that clean, real-orange taste!! It was sweet in a natural way, not a sugary-drink way, and I loved that 👍🏻

Thai Yami's pad thai: bean sprouts, beef brisket, and two shrimp

The pad thai and kai phrai arrived!! Such a pretty visual. They topped both with a wedge of lemon so we could enjoy them with a refreshing kick.

A table set with pad thai and kai phrai together

The pad thai had noodles well coated in sauce and tons of bean sprouts, so the texture was great. The crushed peanuts gave it a nice crunch, and the chili flakes made it pleasantly spicy. There was beef brisket in it too, so protein sorted haha. The shrimp were nice and plump — two of them, so my friend and I each got one to share fairly. A flavor anyone would like, sweet pad thai ~!

Kai phrai, 21,000 won: boneless fried chicken under snow cheese

Kai phrai is the handmade fried chicken and salad you can only get at Thai Yami. Colorful vegetables and a snow-cheese topping upgrade the visual 😎 It's boneless so it's easy to eat, and it comes with salad so you can enjoy it without feeling greasy. A soy-sauce-based chicken flavor!

The meat wasn't dry at all, which I loved. Eating it with the salad was a great pairing

Julienned onion under the chicken, and eating kai phrai with pad thai

There's also julienned onion laid under the fried chicken! Eating it together with the onion added a slight spicy kick that I liked. And pairing the fried chicken with pad thai brought back that pad thai sweetness, which was also great.

A satisfying spread, yum. Ate well again today 🐷
