In short

Friday 6:30 pm: 2nd in line, then an outdoor tent table

Wow, so many people of all ages on a Friday evening (I'm getting old, haha), what a surprise. True to its reputation as a Sadang hotspot, we were 2nd in line around 6:30. Just as I was about to give up waiting, they called us — asking if outdoor seating was okay. Oh... I actually wanted an outdoor tent spot, so thank you, sweet harmonica 🎹

So they set up a table outside for us haha

Honestly outdoor seating was even better 🍀 lucky charm☘️ feels like things are going my way~~~ bibbidi bobbidi boo ✨ lotto jackpot~~~~~
What we ordered at Bareun Hwangso Gopchang and what it cost
We ordered assorted gopchang ₩24,000 (1 serving) and gopchang ₩25,000 (1 serving), two servings total haha. Gonna eat lots of gopchang~~~ ah, soju was ₩5,000.

Oh~~~~ nothing bad about eating something nourishing like this 😎

Wait, what's this 'drinking weight' thing starting today... never heard of it before;; so many new things this day, haha getting old, lol
Free sides: tripe, chive salad and fish cake soup

Chive salad and pickled perilla leaves, and oh~~~ tripe! They actually have a liver/tripe menu item, but tripe came out as a free side anyway. A lot of places skimp on this, so it says something about how fresh it is.

No gamey smell at all haha, dip it in sesame oil sauce, crunchy and chewy.

My friend pulled out an envelope and I was like, what money envelope is this??? 💵 turns out... they were shocked I didn't know about 'Han Jeong-seon' 😱 seriously first time hearing about it, haha.
The warm free fish cake soup came out too, haha. Sprinkle some pepper on it, so good — bean sprouts added, refreshing free fish cake soup~~~ loading up on drinking snacks before the gopchang arrives!̆̈!̆̈ here it comes

The chive salad looked mild but was actually a bit spicy in a good way, delicious.

This is the real deal, genuine outdoor tent vibes — a pojangmacha (street tent bar) style gopchang spot. The gopchang comes already fully cooked, so it takes a little time to arrive haha.
What's on the assorted platter, grilled before it reaches the table

Finally, the gopchang we'd been waiting for >_< neatly arranged: gopchang, daechang (large intestine), makchang (abomasum), heart, potato, onion, chives, rice cake, king oyster mushroom. The gopchang comes already grilled, so no oil splatter or hassle of cooking it — you just eat.
They mix the vegetables in for you.

Because the pan has a concave center, mixing everything in makes it look even more generous 👍 something keeps coming out from inside.

Inside the concave part, there's plenty of rice cake, mushroom, and onion packed in. Eating these with the gopchang keeps things from getting monotonous — a nice bonus treat.
Beef heart: eat this one first

Eat the heart first! ̆̈ !̆̈ You need to eat it before it gets tough, haha.
Soju is a must with gopchang... it's my 'drinking weight' day so, haha, here's 20 — cheers.

This is the classic perilla leaf debate scene 📸 do you grab one or not.
Gopchang (small intestine)

Since it comes already cooked, there's no need to grill and wait, which is so great! ̆̈ When you grill it yourself you have to flip it often and it burns easily, but this comes out perfectly browned every time.

A dash of cheongyang chili 🌶️ the gopchang is packed with fat and so savory and delicious... this is why you need to eat gopchang regularly.
Makchang (last stomach chamber)

Wait, maybe I actually like makchang more than gopchang? Not tough at all, chewy, tastes better the more you chew it.
Daechang (large intestine)

Plump, savory daechang — every part was fresh with no gamey smell at all, so delicious 😋

This is how rice cake should be fried, haha — crispy outside, chewy inside.

Abracadabra, the soju just flows and flows ✨ magical gopchang

The weather was nice, and gopchang with a glass of soju hit the spot (well, more than one glass). If you're craving gopchang after work, Bareun Hwangso Gopchang is the Sadang spot to hit up.
