Weekday dinner for two at a Balsan Station gyukatsu spot: Ichigyu

Hello! It's the picky Gguul couple! We suddenly had a craving for gyukatsu (breaded, seared beef cutlet), and while searching we found "Ichigyu Balsan Station Branch" near Balsan Station, so we went to check it out.

We put up two slices first — what do you think, haha? On the grill we melted a third of a butter pat, just as the staff instructed. I remember eating Ingga Gyukatsu in Sinchon a while back, so it was a nice chance to revisit the style after all this time.

Looks delicious, right? Haha. We grilled the sirloin steki one slice at a time — you can eat it warm, and it's tender enough to really get your appetite going.

Gyukatsu or steki sirloin at Ichigyu Balsan Station — which was better?

Bottom line up front! The sirloin gyukatsu at Ichigyu Balsan Station Branch was soft and tasty. The sirloin steki felt more like eating straight beef, with a deeper meaty flavor — also delicious.

Ichigyu Balsan Station: exterior, interior, seating and parking

"Exterior" — We visited on a weekday evening. Even from outside, the cozy vibe is nice, isn't it, haha?

Ichigyu Balsan Station Branch is on the 2nd floor of a building near Balsan Station, just a short walk from the station. The parking lot is big too, so there were plenty of spots!

"Interior" — Inside, there are tables for 2, 4, and 6 people, so it works for any gathering — families, friends, and even fairly large group parties can dine here!

Looking toward the kitchen, I spotted a Kirin draft beer machine tucked in one corner, which I love, haha.

The interior is cozy and trendy, clean-looking too, and it genuinely felt like eating in Japan~!

What the couple ordered: sirloin gyukatsu, sirloin steki and a Kirin draft beer

We looked over the menu and, after some thought, ordered Ichigyu Balsan Station Branch's signature sirloin steki and sirloin gyukatsu. We paired it with a glass of Kirin draft beer.

First, the staff light the personal grill for you. It seems they let it heat up a bit before the food comes out!

Doesn't it have a nice atmosphere? I love this kind of personal grill where you cook things one piece at a time, haha.

After that they bring out rice, which you serve yourself. And if you run out, refills are available!

The rice was nice and chewy, pairing really well with the gyukatsu and sirloin! After a short wait, the lightly seared gyukatsu set arrives like this!

And then the sirloin steki set came out too — what do you think? We thought it was delicious, haha.
