Family Korean set meals in Cheonan: Bomae Hansang

I came to Cheonan first, and it was finally the last dayㅠ From early in the morning, my husband, my younger sibling's couple, and I wanted a delicious Korean meal, so we looked for a good restaurant near Cheonan Station! Since we had a child with us, we prioritized restaurants that welcomed kids, then called ahead to reserve Bomae Hansang, which had great reviews.

The place we visited was this Korean restaurant near Cheonan Station, and it is open every day except Saturday, including weekends! It has baby chairs and offers takeout and delivery, so it is convenient for dining with children. Since it was the weekend, we called ahead to reserve just in case, and I think the first things we checked were the parking and whether children were welcome!

What Is the Parking Like at This Child-Friendly Restaurant?

For families with children, parking is the biggest thing! There is plenty of parking in front of the restaurant, so you can use it without stress. But as you can see, there are lots of customers on weekends, so spaces could run out—I'd recommend coming early.

Inside: a Self Bar and Group Seating

What also stood out was the interior. As a Korean restaurant, it had a self bar stocked with fresh ssam (wrap) vegetables. There were also snacks that kids like and a coffee machine for after-meal dessert, so it looked like a lovely spot for the whole family!

There were group tables as well as privately partitioned seats, so I think it would be good for gatherings too, haha. Since we had reserved by phone, they had prepared a separate table for us! There were four adults and one baby.

Set-Meal Menu and the One-Menu-Per-Adult Rule

Most of the menu consists of hansang (full table set) meals, with set menus and add-ons. The rule is one menu item per adult, so it is worth keeping that in mind!

Hearty Doenjang Jjigae and Side Dishes

After ordering, the side dishes were set out right away, and the doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) served in a generous pot was so deeply savory and deliciousㅠ

The wureong doenjang (soybean paste with freshwater snails), white rice, and side dishes included in the set were all tasty too! There were five basic side dishes, and they were not overly seasoned—just right, even eaten on their own. Not bad!

Premium Set for 3 and Squid Hansang

We ordered the Premium Set for 3, which included grilled mackerel, spicy pork, and pork bulgogi, plus the Squid Hansang as an extra. The squid set was so delicious that I did not get a photo... haha. That is how well my husband and brother-in-law ate, and my pregnant sister, who loves fish, enjoyed it too!

Overall, the portions felt slightly insufficient, but the warm, home-cooked feeling was nice for both adults and children! The owner was kind, and the side dishes were so good that the rice went down way too easily—we added two more bowls of rice 😂

A Ssangyong-dong Korean Set Meal with Family

It had been such a long time since I came to Cheonan, and I think this was the first proper meal I had with my sibling's family. The grilled mackerel was delicious with no fishy smell, and the spicy pork and pork bulbaek (marinated pork barbecue) were so insanely good that I wanted to pack them to take home..! The baby seemed to like the food too, so we were all satisfied!
