I drive out to Palgongsan pretty often, and this time too I went for a light drive and ended up there right around lunchtime. I'd already been before so I had a rough idea of the food and vibe, but this time I decided to try the lunch special menu haha ☺️☺️ There are plenty of cafés around Palgongsan, but sometimes when you're looking for a meal you just crave meat or barbecue, right? This is one of the good barbecue restaurants around Palgongsan to stop by for exactly that ❤️❤️

The outdoor tables especially have a bit of a romantic feel, making it a perfect spot for a Palgongsan date course ☺️☺️ It could also be a fun spot for a Palgongsan birthday party with an American-party kind of feel haha. Personally, I think if they added some lighting, the evening atmosphere would be even prettier, so this is a place I'd love to come back to at night 💡💡

Stepping inside, the interior continues the outdoor vibe with a foreign-restaurant kind of feel. Lots of wood is used throughout, making it cozy overall and definitely different from a typical meat restaurant! Because of that, it felt less like just a place to eat and more like a good spot for a date, family meal, or gathering.

There's also group seating available, which is great for visiting with a larger crowd 👍👍 It'd be a solid pick as a meal spot if you're heading out with a big group, like for a company outing near Palgongsan.

First, the complimentary nachos and beef chili soup. The nachos were nice and crispy, and the beef chili soup had a slight kick that really whetted my appetite before the meal. Whenever a slightly spicy soup like this shows up, I just can't stop reaching for it hahaha.

The lunch special pulled pork set 🫢🫢 the main dish of this visit! The pulled pork was cooked soft, so instead of the dry texture meat can sometimes have, it was moist and tender. You could really taste the smoky barbecue flavor, and eating it with the sauce added a sweet-and-savory note — a dish meat lovers would really enjoy. It was especially nice being able to enjoy barbecue without it feeling too heavy for lunchtime, so it worked well as a lunch special.

Shrimp cream pasta at Modak Texas Barbecue

Shrimp cream pasta. And personally, the best dish of the meal! The shrimp cream pasta was genuinely so good ❤️❤️ The cream sauce was smooth and savory, and it paired really well with the shrimp — the kind of flavor that kept me going back for more. Taking a bite of pasta between bites of meat was a great combo, and the sauce was rich enough that the pasta was delicious even eaten on its own. This is a dish I really want to eat again 🫡🫡 If I come back, I'm definitely ordering the shrimp cream pasta again 👍👍

Is the add-on Texas lobster worth it?

I also ordered the lobster as an add-on. The flavor itself was good, and pairing it with the barbecue dishes made for an interesting combination, but the portion was too small, which was a bit disappointing 🥲🥲 It tasted good, but I wish it had been a bit more generous! Still, it was nice for trying a variety of flavors while sharing several dishes.

The lemonade was refreshing, good for sipping between bites of meat or the cream pasta 🍋🍋
