Cheonan crab restaurant with draft beer and a C-set for two: Kkotgeok
In short
Kkotgeok Cheonan Yuryang-dong Branch is a soy-marinated crab (gejang) restaurant in Yuryang-dong, Cheonan, split into a main hall and an annex that seats guests with dogs. Sitting in the annex with her dog Choco, the writer ordered the Kkotgeok C-set for two at 80,000 won — soy-marinated crab, spicy marinated crab and crab stew — with draft beer at lunch, and the roe-filled Yeonpyeong Island crab was not too salty and so full of roe and guts that it was worth mixing into butter rice. For a hearty seasonal crab meal with a dog along, the Kkotgeok annex is the easy choice.

September rolled around and with the fattening season here, I started craving seasonal food! Today's dish is fall's plump, in-season crab 🦀 I found this spot while looking for dog-friendly restaurants in Cheonan I could go to with Choco. Here's my review of Kkotgeok, where I feasted on soy marinated crab, spicy marinated crab, and crab stew 😉
Kkotgeok in Yuryang-dong, Cheonan: dogs eat in the annex
Kkotgeok is a soy crab (gejang) specialty Korean restaurant in Yuryang-dong, Cheonan, with its space fully split into a main hall and an annex — guests with dogs use the annex. Parking is generous to match the large exterior ‼️
The interior was spacious and clean, and there was a separate private room inside too, which looked great for gatherings or dinners out 😊
What I loved as a dog-friendly restaurant was that the main hall and annex are completely separate spaces! The annex is set up for guests with dogs — there's a usage guide posted, so please check it if you're bringing your dog!

Kkotgeok's menu and side dishes
Kkotgeok's menu was varied, with soy marinated crab and spicy marinated crab as the mains, plus boiled pork, dried yellow corvina, and crab stew 😆

They said the crab and crab stew are domestic, so I was really looking forward to the in-season crab 🤗
The side dishes that came out first paired well with the crab, and honestly... the japchae (stir-fried glass noodles) was so good haha

Disposable gloves were set out so we could eat the crab comfortably, and of course there was sesame oil too 😝

What comes in the Kkotgeok C-set for two (80,000 won)
We ordered the Kkotgeok C-set for two at ₩80,000, which comes with soy marinated crab, spicy marinated crab, and crab stew together. Then the food arrived!!

Soy marinated crab, spicy marinated crab, and crab stew all together — just looking at it made me hungry and full at the same time ❣️

The second I saw the crab, I ordered a draft beer right away~🍺 (day drinking is the best!!)

Yeonpyeong Island roe-filled soy crab with butter rice
Kkotgeok's soy marinated crab uses roe-filled crab from Yeonpyeong Island, and maybe because of that the pieces were big and plump with meat 😋 The soy sauce seasoning soaked moistly between the crab meat, and I liked that it wasn't too salty ‼️
Every time I picked up a piece to eat, the crab meat and roe were just packed in there..!!😘 The shell was full of guts too, so how could I possibly resist mixing rice into the crab shell~~🤪

The soy crab's gentle sweetness blended with the rich, deep flavor of the guts for a savory, umami-packed bite 🤎

Kkotgeok also thoughtfully gives you butter

Mixing it in gives you an even nuttier flavor, so make sure to try it this way!!!

Choco waited (sort of) patiently, and since it's a dog-friendly space, we got to eat comfortably 😍

How were Kkotgeok's spicy marinated crab and crab stew?
Kkotgeok's spicy marinated crab was piled high with minari (water celery) and chili peppers, and just looking at it I could tell the spicy-sweet seasoning was going to be good 😙 The thick sauce coated the crab meat evenly, and behind the spiciness there was a lingering sweetness!

Look at how plump and full the meat is in the spicy crab too..!! (mouth-watering visual 🤤) Piling the spicy crab meat over white rice went perfectly with the sweet-spicy sauce 👏🏻👏🏻
Now to finish off, the crab stew 🦀🦀 The umami of the crab was fully melted into the broth

Spicy yet refreshingly clean-tasting!

The crab stew was also loaded with meat and felt hearty, and eating it with rice made it even better — we finished the meal fully satisfied to the end 🧡 Crab really is a rice thief 🍚🍚🍚

Kkotgeok also does takeout, so keep that in mind if you're interested 😄

This was my review of Kkotgeok, a soy marinated crab and spicy marinated crab spot in Yuryang-dong, Cheonan, made even better because I got to enjoy it with Choco 😉
