Jeonju grilled pork restaurant with no weekend wait at 5pm: Mongyudo
In short
Mongyudo Sinsigaji Branch is an aged pork belly and pork neck grill restaurant at the entrance of the Sinsigaji main street in Jeonju, Jeonbuk. On a weekend visit at 5pm, the Mongyudo Set for Two (₩43,000) came with pot-fried rice and a bowl of cold noodles from the review event, and a staff member grilled the pre-seared meat at the table, so there was nothing to do but wait and eat. The set for two feels closer to 2.5 servings, so one order is plenty for two people.

Today I went back to Mongyudo, my go-to spot in Jeonju's Sinsigaji whenever I'm craving meat! The staff service is always great every time I go... and above all, the meat is genuinely delicious here.

Where Mongyudo Sinsigaji Branch is and where to park
Mongyudo Sinsigaji Branch sits right at the entrance of Jeonju Sinsigaji's main street, with the restaurant's own parking lot nearby. I parked and went straight in. The sign is huge so it's not hard to find.

What time to arrive on a weekend to avoid the wait
Mongyudo Sinsigaji Branch gets a wait during weekend peak hours, so this time I went at 5pm on a weekend. Even at that hour there were quite a lot of people—I was surprised! Weekends are known for long waits anyway, so going early turned out to be the right call, haha. Definitely recommend checking the timing before you go! The place is spacious and comfortable, and the tables are set nicely apart too.

What comes in the Mongyudo Set for Two (₩43,000)
You order through the tableside kiosk. Today I got the Mongyudo Set for Two (aged pork belly 270g + aged pork neck 180g + choice of kimchi stew or doenjang rice) for ₩43,000, pot-fried rice x2 for ₩6,000, cold noodles from the review event, and a zero-sugar cola for ₩2,000.
If you write 2 or more reviews, you get to pick one free item from the review event—cold noodles, fried rice, etc. Such a great deal, so I really recommend writing reviews. I went with cold noodles today, haha.

The side dishes served with the meal
The basic side dishes come with bean sprouts, kimchi, pickled onion, wild garlic (myeongi-namul), and seasoned lettuce, all of which pair well with the meat. The essential meat companions—every single side dish was delicious.

The pork-loaded kimchi stew included with the set for two
This is the kimchi stew that comes free with the set for two, and it's genuinely loaded with pork belly. Quality that rivals most delivery kimchi stew places! There's so much of it and so much meat that I ended up eating the stew alone while my boyfriend focused on the meat... haha.

Staff grill the pork at your table
At Mongyudo Sinsigaji Branch, staff take the pre-seared meat and grill it to perfection for you. All you have to do is wait and eat! So convenient, haha. If my boyfriend and I had grilled it ourselves, it probably wouldn't have turned out this good.

The meat is cut to just the right thickness, and the balance between lean meat and fat is so good that it's delicious even dipped in just salt 🤤 It's called a set for two, but it feels more like 2.5 servings. There's plenty of meat, so I'd recommend this set for two people, haha.

Hehe, there's rice cake too, haha.

The cold noodles from Mongyudo's review event
Here's the cold noodles I got from the review. Even as a review-event item, it seems to come in the same portion as a regular order! It had been a while since I had cold noodles with pork belly, and it was just as delicious as I remembered.
Cold noodles 🩶 pork belly, please just get married already;;

Ending with pot-fried rice, minimum two orders
The final act: fried rice! This is fried rice I really want to recommend. I saved some meat today to eat it together with the fried rice, haha. The rice grains come out fluffy and separate, so good that even after all the meat and noodles, I kept eating more 🤭 Make sure to fry it really well before eating. Note that you need to order at least two, so save some room in your stomach‼️

Who Mongyudo Sinsigaji Branch suits best
I usually only get to go with my boyfriend since our schedules rarely align, but I'd love to bring my family here too if I get the chance. It's so good that I feel guilty eating it alone, lol. If you're looking for a pork belly restaurant in Jeonju's Sinsigaji, I strongly recommend Mongyudo Jeonju Sinsigaji Branch. It works perfectly for a date, a family gathering, or a work dinner!
