Duck steak cream risotto at a Yeonnam-dong pasta spot: Hey Joji

In short

Hey Joji is a pasta and risotto restaurant on Donggyo-ro 46-gil in Yeonnam-dong, Seoul. After coffee at a nearby Yeonnam café, a craving for pasta led to an order of duck steak cream risotto and cajun shrimp rosé pasta at Hey Joji, and a waiting line had formed by the time the meal ended. Pasta was the plan, but the duck steak cream risotto was the more memorable dish.

After coffee at Yeonnam's "Central Site," I got a craving for pasta and went looking around, which is how I found Hey Joji.

Hey Joji has that cute, sentimental atmosphere Yeonnam-dong is known for, so it works well for a date or a meal with friends. The interior is relaxed too, so it was easy to chat comfortably while eating.

There were quite a lot of seats, but by the time we left after eating, a waiting line had formed! Proof this place is legit.

Duck steak cream risotto and cajun shrimp rosé pasta served together at Hey Joji

After much deliberation, we ordered the duck steak cream risotto and the cajun shrimp rosé pasta! Both looked so appetizing the moment they arrived that we started snapping photos right away 😋 And to cut to the conclusion — we came craving pasta, but the duck steak cream risotto was insane.

The most impressive dish at Hey Joji was the duck steak cream risotto. Everyone, please order this one... genuinely the best. My friend and I kept saying "this is so good" way too many times while eating.

It's a combination of smooth cream sauce and risotto topped with duck steak — the cream sauce blended nicely between the rice grains for a savory, soft flavor, and eating it with the duck made it feel even more filling. Cream-based dishes can start to feel heavy the more you eat, but the duck's flavor kept it from getting tiresome. The duck steak was sliced nice and thick, good for pairing with the risotto, and its savory character worked well with the cream sauce. It's also slightly spicy, and that's the special touch ⭐️

The cajun shrimp rosé pasta combines shrimp with rosé sauce — familiar, but with cajun spice added for a different kind of flavor. The soft, savory rosé sauce plus cajun's gentle heat and aroma made the dish more craveable with every bite.

The shrimp were cut to a good size for eating together with the pasta, so twirling noodles and shrimp together gave a nice texture. The thick rosé sauce coated the noodles well, so the sauce-to-noodle balance was satisfying. Eating it alongside the cream risotto was especially fun since the two dishes tasted so clearly different — it was fun to alternate between them.

Is Hey Joji worth it for pasta in Yeonnam-dong?

Overall, Hey Joji struck me as a place that covers both atmosphere and menu well when looking for a Yeonnam pasta restaurant. The menu range was solid too, from something a bit unusual like the duck steak cream risotto to a pasta anyone can enjoy comfortably, like the cajun shrimp rosé pasta.

It's a good spot to visit if you're on a date in Yeonnam-dong looking for a restaurant with good atmosphere, or if you want to share delicious pasta and risotto with a friend. We ordered both dishes together that day, and each had its own charm, so we enjoyed the meal all the way to the end. If you're looking for a Yeonnam pasta restaurant where you can enjoy both a sentimental atmosphere and a satisfying meal, I recommend Hey Joji!!
