After seeing a play in Daehangno, I was looking for somewhere comfortable to have fun indoors regardless of the weather, so I visited Hero Board Game Cafe Daehangno Branch. With its clean, cozy interior, it was perfect not only for hanging out with friends but also for an indoor date with your partner. Board game cafés are so modern these days that I wanted to share this one, so here goes:)

Detailed usage guides were posted at the entrance and throughout the café, so even as a first-time visitor, I could easily understand how everything worked. The standard time charge is ₩3,000 for the first hour, then ₩500 is added for every 10 minutes after that.

There is also a youth rate for students: on weekdays, show your student ID at entry and it is ₩2,000 for the first hour, with ₩500 added for every 15 minutes after that. (So jealous as a working adult..)

If you want to stay all day without worrying about the cost, I recommend the weekday unlimited rate, available with prepaid payment. At just ₩5,000 per day, it is a seriously affordable choice for anyone wanting to enjoy a wide range of games for a long time!

Honestly, even one proper round of a board game can make an hour fly by~~ One menu item per person is required, and you can order from the tablet in each room. It seems reasonable that one bingsu or combo menu counts as an order for two people~~

What are the private rooms and loft-style seats like?

Once inside, private spaces line the hallway in separate sections. Each room has soft lighting and curtains, so you can focus on your own time together.

You can choose according to your preference, from loft-style spaces where you take off your shoes to neat table-and-chair seating. Me... I am more comfortable at a table these days, so that is where I sat.

The tables have built-in holders to keep drinks from spilling, which makes it easier to concentrate on the game. There is also a dedicated tablet installed on the wall, so you do not have to go to the counter every time you want to order. If a game gets you worked up, ordering a refreshing ade right away would be just the thing, right??

There are also category-based game recommendations, such as murder mysteries where you find the culprit and games that are perfect for two, plus detailed explainer videos. Even first-time visitors can choose a game without any trouble.

What is there to enjoy besides board games?

The display shelves in the middle of the café are organized with countless board games, from bestsellers for beginners to challenging strategy games and deduction games such as murder mysteries and Crime Scene. You can also easily find new games from Popcorn Games and games matched to your group size by searching on the tablet.

Beyond board games, there is a pool table, free retro arcade machines, and a Nintendo Switch, among other entertainment options. It is great for switching things up after playing board games. Today, I mainly played Rummikub!

Side dishes and drinks to enjoy while gaming

You can order a variety of snacks and drinks through the counter kiosk or the tablet in your room. There are lots of choices, from meal-like options such as tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), chili mayo chicken, chili garlic soy sauce chicken, potato chicken wraps, and Jjapagetti instant noodles, to bingsu and ice cream.

First, the sour cream fries were crispy fries generously topped with creamy sour sauce, salty bacon chips, and parsley. They were perfect finger food to pick at while playing.

The mango yogurt ice cream combined tangy yogurt ice cream with sweet mango topping and crunchy cereal, making it an excellent cool dessert. The omija (five-flavor berry) hibiscus tea we ordered alongside it was a refreshing drink that paired omija's sweet-tart flavor with the clean aroma of hibiscus. It freshened up my palate between games, and maybe that is why game time felt even more enjoyable??
