A lamb rib spot in Gwanggyo: Hwaro Yangmi Gwanggyo Sanghyeon Station Branch
Looking for a good lamb rib restaurant in Gwanggyo, I ended up at Hwaro Yangmi Gwanggyo Sanghyeon Station Branch in Sanghyeon-dong! My partner really loves lamb ribs and lamb skewers, so this time we went all out starting from lunch haha. The place must have been remodeled recently because it felt spacious and clean overall, and it even has group seating, so it could work as a spot for company dinners in Gwanggyo too.

We went during lunchtime and it was still comfortable to eat, which was nice.

A spacious interior with group seating
Hwaro Yangmi Gwanggyo Sanghyeon Station Branch has a fairly large dining space, so it wasn't a squeeze visiting with several people, and there's separate group seating too, which would suit dinners or gatherings well.

My partner, who often throws birthday parties with friends, even recommended I check this place out haha 😄

The atmosphere was clean and the meat quality was good, so it seemed like a solid choice for special occasions too. 👍🏻

Hwaro Yangmi is a premium chilled lamb rib specialist, and there's even an aging fridge visible inside the restaurant. That kind of detail really gives off Sanghyeon-dong hot-spot energy haha.

What's in the Special Mixed Set (2 people)?
That day we ordered the Special Mixed Set (2 people) and egg fried rice!

Not long after ordering, the lamb ribs arrived with the basic side dishes, and the presentation alone looked amazing haha 🤤

The Special Mixed Set came with shoulder, lamb loin, and seasoned mini short ribs, and each cut had its own name tag so you could tell right away which was which.

They said it's premium Australian lamb under a year old, air-imported chilled rather than frozen — and the quality of the meat really did feel different because of it.
Lamb ribs grilled table-side by the owner over charcoal
Another thing I liked about Hwaro Yangmi was the charcoal grilling.

On top of that, the owner grilled the meat for us himself, which made things even easier!
As soon as it hit the charcoal grill, the meat cooked quickly, and that subtle charcoal aroma coming off it was genuinely great haha.

The owner cut the meat into bite-sized pieces himself, and once it was done, plated it for us one bowl at a time, so all we had to do was enjoy it 😎

What about the gamey smell?
The color of the meat looked great from the start, and one bite in, it was juicy and tender enough to melt in your mouth!
Lamb can be divisive because of its distinctive smell, right? But it was surprising how little of that unpleasant smell came through here.
I think even someone trying lamb for the first time could eat this without any hesitation!
My partner kept raving that it was better than beef while eating, saying it was the best lamb ribs he'd ever had. He said bringing him here was worth it, which honestly made me kind of proud haha.
So if you're looking for a good lamb rib place in Gwanggyo, I think someone who loves lamb like my partner would be very satisfied here.

Grilling chilled young lamb over charcoal really brought out the natural flavor of the meat itself.

Egg fried rice and ice cream after the meal
And of course, I can't leave out the egg fried rice we ordered for my carb-loving partner haha.

A bite of lamb rib followed by a bite of fried rice turned out to be a surprisingly great combo. 👍🏻 I guess rice really is essential when eating meat haha.

And they finished things off nicely with ice cream after the meal, so the service satisfaction was great too 👍🏻. I went there because my partner loves lamb ribs, but honestly I think I ended up enjoying it even more than him haha.
If you're looking for a good restaurant in Sanghyeon-dong or a barbecue place around Gwanggyo, this one's worth considering. Especially if you're visiting with a group, they have group seating, so it could work well as a company dinner spot in Gwanggyo too!
Next time I'll have to try other lamb menu items besides the Special Mixed Set 🤤. I already know my partner is going to want to come back here.
