Seeing parts I could never normally check magnified up close was fascinating but also a little shocking. Hahaha.

According to her explanation, my scalp is currently very dry and my hair is severely lacking in moisture. So for the day, we decided to start with deep scaling to clear away the flakes, then move toward balancing moisture and oil. I liked that instead of just running through a fixed course, she explained each step of the care order suited to my current condition.

From steam to hinoki deep scaling, step by step

The real treatment started with steam. She steamed my head so the flakes between the pores could soften up, then moved into scaling using hinoki cypress products.

She used a tool that looked like a cotton swab to part my hair section by section and apply the product carefully — something I'd absolutely never manage on my own. While she worked, Yumin also asked about my usual hair-washing habits. She checked everything from whether I bend forward or tilt back when washing to what shampoo I use, then gave me solutions for each (I asked her everything I'd always wondered!!). She explained that washing daily with a product that's mainly focused on cleansing power may have been making my dryness worse.

She also told me about how often to get flakes managed — generally a 28-day cycle means once a month is recommended, but for someone like me with firmly stuck-on flakes, a 3-week interval could be considered depending on the condition.

At Beorn Hair Cheongdam's scalp clinic, a massage continues while the scaling product sits and works. She thoroughly loosened everything from my back and shoulders to the fascia of my head, and with the blood circulation going, I nearly dozed off.

I recently got back into golf and had some muscle soreness in my back and shoulders. But as she worked out each knot, it felt incredibly refreshing. I came in for a scalp treatment and left feeling like I'd gotten a proper massage too. Hahaha.

After the massage, I got a first-round seated shampoo right in my chair, then moved to a separate shampoo room for a second shampoo and water scaling.

After the deep scaling finished, a scalp pack was applied suited to my dry condition.

The pack also used hinoki cypress products, and I liked how firm and cooling it felt.

Next came a microcurrent massage. She explained beforehand that sensitive or weak areas might sting a bit, but even though I had some red-looking areas, it wasn't painful at all — actually felt cooling and refreshing.

Lying back comfortably in the massage chair with soft trickling water sounds and music playing — it really was paradise. I almost fell asleep. Hahaha.

Finally, after leaving the spa room, she carefully applied a hinoki cypress ampoule all through my hair. It's good for strengthening pores and hair care, so I think it would be great for anyone concerned about hair loss.

After everything was done, my condition was checked with the camera again.

Compared to the first screen, my pores had opened up and the flakes that had been stuck on were noticeably cleared away — clean and clear. I was told that the first treatment usually clears about 70% of the flakes, but to me it looked like nearly everything was cleared.

Before and after, what do you think? The difference is huge, right? Hahaha. Even though my hair is normally fine and goes flat, I got root volume without even using a blow-dryer, no itchiness at all, and when I stepped outside, the cool breeze seemed to flow right through my hair — such a refreshing feeling.
