Seoul Station gyukatsu jumbo with draft beer after Gunsan: Ichigyu
In short
Ichigyu Seoul Station Branch is a gyukatsu (Japanese-style beef cutlet) and steki (steak) restaurant on the basement level of the LG Seoul Station Building in Jung-gu, Seoul, right by Exit 10. Returning from a two-day trip to Gunsan, the writer met a friend at Ichigyu at 5:30pm on a weekend for the gyukatsu jumbo (32,000 won), the steki set (19,500 won) and Kirin draft beer (8,000 won), grilling each slice on a tabletop brazier. The crisp-outside, tender-inside sirloin with French Isigny butter and wasabi was the standout, and Ichigyu Seoul Station Branch is an easy place to eat with someone before or after a train trip.

(A little detour from my Gunsan trip posts!) After wrapping up a short but intense one-night, two-day trip to Gunsan, I arrived back at Seoul Station 🚉 I'd brought back some Isung-dang bread from Gunsan to share with a friend, so we met up and figured we might as well grab a meal. While looking up good restaurants near Seoul Station, I found a gyukatsu spot! Here's my very satisfied review of Ichigyu Seoul Station Branch — crispy-outside, juicy-inside gyukatsu and a cold draft beer 🤗

Where is Ichigyu Seoul Station Branch? Finding the B1 entrance
Ichigyu Seoul Station Branch is easy to find — just head down to the basement floor of the LG Seoul Station Building through Exit 10 of Seoul Station. The address is 98 Huam-ro, B1 B116, Jung-gu, Seoul.

Arriving at 5:30pm on a weekend: was there a wait?
Maybe because it was a weekend evening, people kept steadily coming in! We got there around 5:30pm, and by the time we left, a line had already started forming.

So this is already a well-known spot! Families, friends, couples — all kinds of people were coming in. The clean, warm atmosphere somehow felt like a good fit for Seoul Station. With both 2-person and 4-person tables well arranged, it looked like it could easily handle group reservations too.

Near the entrance, there's a hunk of meat hanging that seems to be some kind of Ichigyu symbol haha. It looked so vivid I actually wondered a few times if it was a model or the real thing haha.

Since there were two of us, we sat at a 2-person table. Water, the menu, and the brazier were already set up.

Ichigyu Seoul Station menu and what two of us ordered
Here's the menu! Along with gyukatsu and steki, there's omurice, steki-don, chopped steak, curry, noodles, and more. Since we were craving a ton of meat after a tiring trip, we ordered the gyukatsu jumbo, the basic steki set, and a Kirin draft beer. Can't wait.

They also had various promotions running!

Kirin draft beer (₩8,000) — glug glug glug, ahhh.

They lit the solid fuel in the brazier for us.

The rice came out. They even offer refills 😍 You just scoop as much as you want into your own small plate!

Steki set, 19,500 won: sirloin with Isigny butter
The steki set arrives (₩19,500) — oh my gosh. The visuals are insane. The sirloin looked so fresh and glistening I wanted to pop it straight into my mouth. It comes with three sauces — wasabi, chili sauce, and salt — plus Ichigyu's special sauce. And get this: they also serve high-quality French Isigny butter!

Melting the butter properly on the brazier, grilling the meat, and topping it with wasabi made it melt in my mouth. So, so good. In fact, my friend got so into it I caught her piling the brazier full ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ haha. Looked like a receipt printing out ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ

Gyukatsu jumbo, 32,000 won: better value than the basic size?
Next up, the gyukatsu jumbo arrives (₩32,000). Even just looking at it, you can tell it's going to be amazing, right? The basic is ₩19,500, but the jumbo felt like even better value!

The tabletop brazier kept going out
We started grilling piece by piece... and the flame died out faster than expected haha! It kept going out so often I felt bad, but the staff told us that's actually normal since you're not supposed to grill it all at once — just call them anytime it goes out ㅠㅠ
Ahh, I couldn't hold back... loaded the brazier all the way full. That's genuinely how good it was ㅠ Crispy outside, tender inside, so fresh and full of flavor!

Sauce combinations and the verdict on Ichigyu Seoul Station
Personally, I like topping mine with wasabi the most, but at Ichigyu, whether you dip it in the special sauce, chili sauce, or salt, everything pairs really well — I enjoyed every bite 😋
Even after eating a ton of great food in Gunsan, Ichigyu still blew me away! I think this might be the best quality gyukatsu I've had in Korea — completely satisfied. Beyond the delicious, well-prepared food, the staff were really kind and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming, so I'd highly recommend it as a spot to grab a meal with friends near Seoul Station, whether before or after a trip!
