Wangsimni hair salon setting perm and fringe straightening: Oreudeubi

No poodle-style ajumma perm, please — give her a natural setting perm.

My mom has always been used to ₩40,000 poodle perms at the neighborhood salon run by a friendly ajumma. But ever since that ajumma sheared the back of her hair way too short for her own taste, mom's been avoiding the salon and just letting it grow out. As her daughter... I felt like this couldn't go on, so I used my Superchart benefit to treat her before Chuseok!

Since she's used to poodle perms, she might look at a natural perm and go 'wait, did they even do anything?' haha, but I came back really happy with how natural it looked, so here's my honest review!

Where is Oreudeubi Sangwangsimni Station Branch, and what are its hours?

Oreudeubi Sangwangsimni Station Branch is located at 410 Wangsimni-ro, Centrass Shopping Complex Building i, 1st Floor Unit 118, Seongdong-gu, Seoul, and it's open daily from 10:30 to 20:00. Parking is available in the shopping complex.

This is Oreudeubi Hair on the first floor of the Wangsimni Centrass shopping complex :) It was really convenient — you can park right in the building and find it easily.

Inside the shopping complex, it has a cute, simply decorated feel, and there are quite a lot of customers coming and going — so much so that the space felt a bit tight (too popular, I guess...).

First-visit consultation: why a setting perm instead of a basic perm

Since it was our first visit to Oreudeubi, we filled out a beauty consultation survey with a few questions, and they gave us a detailed consultation based on our preferences from the survey :)

They explained whether a basic perm or a setting perm (heat perm) would suit my mom's preferences and hair condition better. Since her hair was still growing out from a cut the neighborhood ajumma did to her own taste, we decided to trim it all over and get a perm!

Her bangs have also been a mess lately from half-curly frizz, so this time we decided to add fringe straightening too :)

First, a cut to neatly even out the overall length! Then a wash and massage on the massage bed! Perfect for parents.

How the setting perm went: heat split into two rounds for thin hair

Now they're applying perm solution all over her hair. Both mom and I have severe half-curly bangs, so this was also a chance to properly smooth out that frizz...

Since her hair is short in the back, they used very thin rods there, adjusting the thickness section by section to add waves.

Time for heat processing~ Since mom's hair is thin, they applied gentle heat in two separate rounds. And they didn't forget to keep checking whether it felt too hot in between — nice attention to detail!

Thick, natural waves complete :) It looks a little tight now, but us women know — once you blow-dry it, it all loosens up ...^^ Honestly, it'd be worse if it didn't loosen up, haha.

Finally, the neutralizing step to lock the waves in nicely! See, no trace of that tight curl from before — it came out really natural.

To finish, they blow-dried her hair while showing her how to style it, and explained how to use an essence suited to her hair :) Such a kind teacher, Youngjun-ssaem haha.

Before and after. The overall frizzy, unkempt length was neatly tidied up, and instead of a poodle perm, they created a natural-looking style with soft, natural waves!

They told her that even at home, just blow-drying and applying the essence would keep the volume alive, and that it'd be easy to maintain. Thank you, Youngjun-ssaem! This was my gift to mom before Chuseok — I hope she had a pretty hairstyle and a healing kind of day too^^🩷
