Why go back to gel after a bare-nail break?

I'd been doing gel nails almost non-stop since earlier this year, and I could feel my nails getting a bit weak because of it.🥲 I figured I needed to give them a rest, so I went bare-nailed for a while.💅🏻🥹

But as someone who's used to having nails done, going bare-handed made my hands feel so plain and empty..🤣 I just kept wishing they'd grow faster..🙏🏻 I was getting dizzy waiting for the length to come in..🫠🤣 Once they'd grown out a decent amount, I headed to Naeil Didi in Apgujeong Rodeo to get them looking pretty again for fall.🎀🫧

Where is Naeil Didi and how do you get there?

Naeil Didi is about a 3-minute walk from Exit 6 of Apgujeong Rodeo Station. There are Naeil Didi signs on the building exterior and near the entrance, so it wasn't hard to find.👍🏻✨

The elevator only goes up to the 5th floor, so you have to take the stairs for one more floor haha.ㅎㅎ

Inside Naeil Didi: interior and color display

The inside of Naeil Didi was bright and clean overall. When I go to a nail salon, I pay attention not just to the colors but to how tidy the space is around me — the tables and colors were all neatly arranged, so it won me over from first impression.🫧🎀☺️

There were so many colors on display that it made me want to try everything🌈, but this time I had a clear mood in mind, so I wasn't tempted to stray.ㅎㅎ🙌🏻✨

Shaping uneven bare nails into an almond shape

My nails were all different lengths, so I was a little worried whether the almond shape I wanted would turn out well. Working within my current lengths, the nail artist carefully balanced and shaped each nail exactly the way I wanted.🫧

Her hands were so quick, but I could tell she wasn't cutting corners — she cleaned up every edge properly.💗 She kept checking in to see if anything felt uncomfortable, and took such careful care of me that the whole treatment felt really relaxing.☺️ So relaxing, in fact, that I dozed off partway through haha.🙈🙊☺️ I felt a little embarrassed when I woke up, but that just shows how comfortable it was.ㅎㅎ🫧

When I looked at my finished hands, I loved them so much.💗 I wanted that barely-there look that makes your hands themselves look delicate and pretty, and it came out exactly the mood I wanted.🩰 My nails weren't in perfect shape to begin with — uneven lengths, some chipped — but she brought the look I had in mind to life on my hands perfectly, and I was completely satisfied.💅🏻🎀💗

Since this was my nails starting over after a break, I didn't want to overdo it, so I went with a mood I've been into lately. Bringing that delicate look from Instagram feeds onto my own hands was so satisfying.🎀🫧

I already love how it looks now, but I know gradients get even prettier as the nails grow out, so I'm looking forward to that too.>..< 💗🫧 The nail artist I used to go to left her old salon, so I'd been wandering between shops like a nail nomad.🫧 I feel like I might finally be ready to settle down here.💗
