I found a bakery café near Gangnam Station with both great coffee and satisfying bread. 👀 The dessert bread selection is so varied that your eyes get busy the second you walk in! This might just be the number one bakery near Gangnam Station. The 8 flavors of Gangnam Sand are especially great as gifts, and eating them with coffee is absolute honey haha. Today's story is about a Gangnam Station bakery café, Bakerist Brown.

Doesn't the red brick building look great? At Bakerist Brown you order on the 1st floor, and there's seating from the basement up to the 3rd floor. There's also an outdoor terrace that looked really pretty~

It felt like the biggest bakery café among the ones near Gangnam Station.

I ordered on the 1st floor and then explored the 2nd and 3rd floors. There are window seats and big tables too, so I saw a lot of people on dates, in friend groups, or working.

It's smack in the middle of Gangnam, but being tucked in the alley gives it a slightly relaxed vibe.

This was the spot I liked most~ 🤎 It's a raised, step-up area, so it feels private, and the green plants with wood interior looked really pretty. This one's toward the back of the 3rd floor~ haha

How much bread and pastry does Bakerist Brown bake?

The variety of breads you see the moment you walk into Bakerist Brown. Croissants, salt bread, kouign-amann, sand cookies, madeleines, financiers, brownies — all sorts of delicious-looking bread were on display.

Bakerist Brown's salt bread is famous too — the chocolate kadaif waffle salt bread, crème brûlée salt bread, and mentaiko (pollock roe) salt bread all looked insanely good~

The croissants and kouign-amann topped with seasonal fruit also looked really pretty! The fig croissant looked so delicious too, but I'd already had lunch so I held back haha

I picked out and tried each of Bakerist Brown's 8 Gangnam Sand flavors one by one. I figured they'd just be sweet since they're butter sand cookies, but the butter flavor was richer than expected and each flavor had its own personality, which made picking through them fun.

Overall, the Gangnam Sand cookies were soft and the cream wasn't too sweet, so if you set your mind to it, you could sit and eat all of them haha. So which sand was my favorite?

My Gangnam Sand ranking: which flavor tastes best?

  • 🥇 Black Grain — the black sesame was nutty and not too sweet, my favorite overall.
  • 🥈 London Fog — the Earl Grey aroma was strong and paired perfectly with coffee.
  • 🥉 Cream Forest — the matcha flavor really comes through, recommended if you like matcha.

The first sip has salty, nutty cream, while the coffee itself isn't very acidic. Drinking it with the cream gives you that perfect sweet-and-salty combo.

My husband ordered the americano. It was neither too strong nor too weak, a solid all-around style that's easy to drink with bakery items. A clean coffee that doesn't overpower the bread's flavor~
