I had an overseas trip coming up, so I got my very first Brazilian wax! Even though it was my first time, it hurt way less than I worried it would, and the treatment was fast and skilled — so here's my review of 'Super Waxing' near Gangnam Station!

Super Waxing Gangnam is super close to Gangnam Station — about a 5-minute walk from Exit 11!

Super Waxing Gangnam uses Lycon Pinky low-pain whitening wax, which they say makes for a painless wax. Lycon Pinky is apparently a long-established, premium low-pain wax that's rated as the top wax in high-end spas and salons across 80 countries. And the esthetician actually has 5 years of experience as a nursing assistant and skincare specialist, which made me trust the process even more, haha.

So you don't get confused about which shop it is, 'Super Waxing' is clearly marked on the building — just double check and you'll find it easily, haha.

Inside Super Waxing Gangnam and the consent form

The owner apparently studied sculpture in art school, and I think that's why the interior felt so modern and clean. I especially love this kind of woody styling, so it was exactly my kind of atmosphere, haha.

Before the treatment, you fill out a consent form like this! I've genuinely never been into waxing before, so I had no idea this many different areas could even be done. If I get the chance, I'm thinking about trying arm and leg waxing next time too, haha.

How clean are the shower and treatment rooms?

This is the shower room you can use to wash up before the treatment! This is where I really felt Super Waxing cares about cleanliness — even though a lot of people obviously use this space, there was no smell at all, and the mirror and faucet had zero water stains, completely spotless! I'm the type who can't use a bathroom if it's dirty, so how clean this was put my mind at ease while showering, haha.

This is the treatment room! The moment I walked in, it felt neatly maintained. There's a pad laid over the treatment bed, so even though multiple people use the same bed, it seemed like they always keep it clean for each person.

And here's the rabbit doll that shared my pain! Lol. This little pink bunny was a huge help the entire time I was getting waxed...

How much does a first Brazilian wax actually hurt?

Since it was my first wax, I looked up a bunch of reviews beforehand, and apparently a lot of people end up traumatized after waxing? So I went in pretty terrified, but the esthetician pulled everything off so quickly and painlessly that I actually thought, 'I could totally get this done regularly!'

Throughout the treatment, she didn't just yank hair off randomly — she gave me a heads-up before areas that might hurt, so I could brace myself. After waxing everything off, she also carefully removed the stray hairs with tweezers, which made the whole thing feel much cleaner.

And the whole thing took under 30 minutes, so it went by so fast I barely had time to feel the pain, haha. I really recommend this place to anyone looking for a waxing salon near Gangnam Station!

Aftercare after a Brazilian wax

After the treatment, they gave me aftercare instructions like this, and I've had zero ingrown hairs or folliculitis so far! Folliculitis is genuinely terrifying... but if you use the waxing-specific spray, soothing gel, scrub, etc. and follow the precautions properly, the risk goes way down — so make sure you follow the aftercare instructions!
