Since my hair was pretty damaged, I went looking for a recovery perm and ended up getting a Re-born (recovery) magic setting perm at Park Jun Beauty Lab Gangnam Branch, near Sinnonhyeon Station.

Consultation before the treatment
I sipped a welcome tea, filled out the client chart, and had a consultation with Senior Designer Jiyeon. Honestly I went back and forth a lot on what style to get, but she checked my hair condition and my usual styling habits really thoroughly.
I don't fuss over my hair much day to day, so I wanted something low-maintenance that would still tame the frizz. Jiyeon showed me curl and style mockups that suited my hair and explained everything in detail, so after the consult I decided on the Re-born recovery magic setting S-curl perm with the clinic treatment included!
My hair condition before the treatment
My hair is thin with really damaged ends, so overall it looked frizzy and had no shine. I have naturally half-wavy hair that frizzes easily anyway, and on top of that I'd had a hippie perm and straightening treatment before, so there was quite a bit of damage 🥲
Still, I didn't want to give up on long hair, so we decided to keep the length as much as possible and just clean up the most damaged parts with a natural layered cut.
What makes the Re-born magic setting perm different
Unlike a regular magic setting perm, the Re-Born magic setting perm combines a Shiseido repair program with detox care, so it treats damaged hair while bringing back curl bounce and shine at the same time. The Re-born recovery perm process
After the cut, before the real treatment began, they washed my hair thoroughly with Shiseido shampoo. Honestly, this place is a shampoo hotspot haha. Once all the buildup was cleaned out of my hair, they moved straight into the protein-packing care.
They carefully hand-applied an Uptex cream that delivers concentrated moisture and protein, strand by strand.
Before applying the perm solution — the core of a setting perm — they mixed in an ampoule for the treatment. It felt reassuring seeing how carefully they worked at every step to minimize hair damage.
Two designers worked on me at once, so everything moved really quickly!
Then came the heat perm work that shapes the S-curl. They kept checking in to make sure it wasn't too hot and placed the non-woven padding carefully, so I could wait comfortably without any discomfort. I ended up just relaxing on my phone while I waited.
They kept bringing me drinks throughout the treatment and paid close attention to how I was doing. After the heat processing, they straightened my hair carefully with a flat iron, then had me lie back at the shampoo bowl for the neutralizing step to finish it all off.
During the final shampoo they even gave me a scalp massage, and their hands were so good it felt like a quick trip to paradise. All my fatigue just melted away… 😌 Every single step felt so thoughtful, which made the Re-born perm that much more satisfying.
After the Re-born magic setting perm
Comparing the before-and-after photos, the difference is honestly wild, right? 😳 The whole treatment took about 3 hours, and at the end they showed me how to dry my hair and recommended products suited to damaged hair. They explained in detail that I should dry my hair outward, then apply a gel essence followed by oil.
Also, you're not supposed to shampoo for 48 hours after the treatment, so keep that in mind if you're planning a visit!
It ended up with such a feminine touch too, I was so happy with it. Definitely a salon I'd recommend near Gangnam Station!!! Go get your S-curl or wave perm done by Senior Designer Jiyeon, she specializes in it ~ 💌
