Some days you just crave clean, tidy Japanese food, you know? Today was one of those days, so my dad and I went to check out Hyundai Outlet and grabbed lunch at a nearby restaurant afterward. This is Choi Dining Daejeon Gwanpyeong, located in Gwanpyeong-dong, Daejeon.

How close is Choi Dining Daejeon Gwanpyeong to Hyundai Outlet?
I visited Choi Dining, a well-known spot near Hyundai Outlet in Gwanpyeong-dong, Daejeon.

Parking is available right next to the shop! If it's full, there's a public parking lot nearby.

They're running a ₩2,000 discount on the weekday lunch Choi Han-sang set, and there's a cold salmon soba that's great for summer! They also have set menus that are perfect for lunch.

You can check out the signature menu items even from outside!

Is Choi Dining a good spot for a date or a family meal?
Choi Dining has a clean, cozy space, and it seems like a lot of couples come here for dates in Gwanpyeong-dong! It's also an easy place to stop by with kids after shopping at Hyundai Outlet.

Delivery orders were also coming in steadily! If you're looking for a good restaurant in Gwanpyeong-dong, I'd recommend Choi Dining.
Choi Dining menu and what the two of us ordered

You can check the signature menu here, plus new items on the table order screen! I visited with my mom, just the two of us, and
Aged salmon futomaki 5pcs: ₩14,900 / Choi bone-in pork katsu: ₩16,500 / Maze soba: ₩13,000
that's what we ordered! There's also a receipt review event where you can get a free cola or cider.

The pork jowl used here (in the pork toro-don menu) isn't mushy like regular fat — it has a springy, chewy texture you can really enjoy!
The best order for eating maze soba at Choi Dining
- Mix it well first
- About halfway through, add the kelp vinegar
- Mix the leftover sauce with rice at the end

A basic broth is served alongside!

Wow, isn't this presentation gorgeous? If you're looking for a get-together spot in Gwanpyeong-dong, this is a great place to enjoy a clean meal with a nice atmosphere with friends!
Aged salmon futomaki, 5 pieces for 14,900 won, with truffle mayonnaise
As a salmon lover, futomaki (thick seaweed roll) is hard to make at home, right? So whenever I see it on a menu somewhere, I always order it! It's absolutely packed with salmon, fried shrimp, rolled egg, pickled radish, cucumber, and burdock root.
I tried it with truffle mayonnaise and the truffle aroma was incredible!!

The end piece of the roll was so big it wouldn't fit in one bite (my mom ended up eating it hahaha).

Choi bone-in pork katsu, 16,500 won: size and crunch
This is another signature item alongside the futomaki — the bone-in pork katsu!

It's bone-in loin that's aged and then fried up nicely, served with a house-made sauce! You can choose whether the sauce is drizzled on top or served on the side.
The size is honestly overwhelming. It's huge!!!! As soon as you cut into it, you hear that crisp crunch — it's fried to such a beautiful golden brown. It's thin so it's easy to eat in one bite, and the crunch holds up even after time passes. It stays crispy all the way through!

The house-made sauce is just sweet enough and so delicious. And with fresh wasabi on top too..!!! This was my first time having pork with the bone in, but you know the part near the bone is always more flavorful, right? It's incredibly tender, so you should definitely try it.

I figured the truffle mayonnaise would go well with the katsu too, so I tried it, and it was genuinely delicious. A delicious-plus-delicious combo.

Maze soba, 13,000 won: kelp vinegar and a rice finish
The maze soba comes with kelp vinegar! The pork is seasoned with doubanjiang, apparently. You pop the egg yolk and mix it well with the chives, meat, and noodles!
It's so moist and soft, and you can really taste the chives — kind of like a Korean-style doenjang (fermented soybean paste) based bibim noodle, but the maze soba I'd had before wasn't real maze soba at all..! Choi Dining's maze soba is genuinely so good..!

It's moist but not greasy, and there's a slight spiciness at the end that I loved! You really have to try adding the kelp vinegar. The umami it brings out is insane!
The maze soba comes with rice served separately, and we added the rice that came with the katsu instead!

As expected, Koreans always finish with rice. Even mixed with rice, the sauce is so delicious. I wanted to buy the sauce separately to take home..!

I wondered if my mom and I could finish it all, but it was so good that even though we were full, we cleaned every plate!! If you're looking for a clean Japanese meal, a great lunch spot, or a get-together place in Gwanpyeong-dong, I recommend Choi Dining.
