Suwon Station Rodeo Street yukhoe platter for two: Yukhoe Dokjon
In short
Yukhoe Dokjon Suwon Station Branch is a chilled hanwoo (Korean beef) yukhoe (raw beef tartare) specialist on Rodeo Street by Suwon Station. A married couple stopped in early on a Friday afternoon and ordered the hanwoo yukhoe platter for two, hanwoo sushi and a bottle of Byeolbit Cheongha (Korean rice wine), and both the yukhoe and the beef sashimi tasted clean with no gamey smell. With beef and radish soup simmering on a mini brazier, Yukhoe Dokjon is an easy place for a meal and a drink.

On a Friday early afternoon, my husband and I went to Suwon Station and I suddenly had a craving for yukhoe (raw beef tartare), so we stopped by Yukhoe Dokjon.

It feels like there used to be quite a few yukhoe specialty restaurants around a few years ago, but one by one they've disappeared, so these days it's not easy to find a decent place even when you're craving yukhoe. So visiting Yukhoe Dokjon again after a long time felt oddly nice.

It brought back memories of the days when I used to go all over the place looking for yukhoe — I really did eat a lot of it back then.
Where is Yukhoe Dokjon Suwon Station Branch? Rodeo Street by Suwon Station

Seating and mood at Yukhoe Dokjon before 6 pm on a Friday
Maybe because we visited before 6 pm on a Friday, the restaurant was quite quiet at first. It was still before rush hour so we could eat at a relaxed pace, though customers started trickling in as time went on. The tables were spaced out generously, so it was comfortable for the two of us, and it seemed like it wouldn't feel cramped even with a larger group.

What beef does Yukhoe Dokjon use? Chilled, never-frozen hanwoo yukhoe
Freshness matters a lot for yukhoe, so I was curious what kind of meat they use. Yukhoe Dokjon says they use chilled, not frozen, hanwoo (Korean beef) yukhoe.

- 📌 The only place near Suwon Station selling chilled-only hanwoo yukhoe.
- 📌 100% handmade chilled hanwoo yukhoe.
- 📌 No frozen yukhoe used.
As someone who loves yukhoe, this kind of detail was bound to catch my eye.
What we ordered: hanwoo yukhoe platter for two, hanwoo sushi and Byeolbit Cheongha
- Hanwoo yukhoe combo for two
- Hanwoo sushi
- Byeolbit Cheongha soju

We ordered the hanwoo yukhoe combo for two and hanwoo sushi, along with a bottle of Byeolbit Cheongha soju.
Beef and radish soup simmered on a mini brazier
We started with the complimentary beef radish soup.

It came on top of a mini brazier with flames going, so we could keep it bubbling warm throughout the meal. A spoonful of the hot broth warmed me up inside, and I felt good even before the yukhoe arrived.
Hanwoo yukhoe platter: yukhoe and beef sashimi on one plate
Then the yukhoe we'd been waiting for arrived. Since it was a combo, we got to try both yukhoe and beef sashimi (yuksashimi) together, which was nice.

Freshness really does matter with yukhoe. It tasted clean and soft with no gamey smell at all — I liked that a lot.

Eating the yukhoe with pear and egg yolk added a nutty, slightly sweet note that made it a great match for drinking.

Does Byeolbit Cheongha go with yukhoe?
We also ordered a bottle of Byeolbit Cheongha, and having it with the yukhoe turned out to be a much better match than I expected.

Yukhoe really does need a drink alongside it, haha. If we hadn't been driving, my husband and I probably would've gone through a few more bottles, but since he had to drive that day, I ended up finishing the whole bottle by myself.

My husband, a bit reluctantly, just focused on eating the yukhoe and beef sashimi. Haha.
Hanwoo sushi on the side
We also ordered hanwoo sushi.

It offers a different kind of experience from the yukhoe, so if you want to try a variety of menu items, ordering it alongside the yukhoe seems like a good idea.

Is Yukhoe Dokjon worth it for yukhoe near Suwon Station?
It was satisfying just to eat as much yukhoe as I wanted after such a long time. Above all, I liked that they use chilled hanwoo yukhoe, and the yukhoe itself was clean and easy to enjoy.
Being able to have the warm beef radish soup alongside it made it a nice place to eat while having a drink. If you're near Suwon Station and craving yukhoe and want to properly enjoy fresh yukhoe, this is a place worth checking out.

I got to eat delicious yukhoe to my heart's content after a long time.
