A handmade dumpling specialist in Siksa-dong
This is Arirang Gaeseong Son Mandu Siksa Branch, a dumpling specialist in Siksa-dong, Ilsandong-gu, Goyang, which I visited with Neogulman, a fellow dumpling lover!

There was a large parking area right in front of the restaurant, so parking was easy~
Once inside, the space was larger than I expected and entirely made up of table seating. The tables were comfortably spaced apart too, making it a nice atmosphere for a meal~
And over on one side, they were continuously hand-folding dumplings,, 🥟 Arirang Gaeseong Son Mandu Siksa Branch makes its dumplings fresh every day, apparently!! So good

What comes with the shabu-shabu dumpling hot pot?
Arirang Gaeseong Son Mandu Siksa Branch has a wide range of dumpling-based dishes. Its signature options include dumpling hot pot and shabu-shabu dumpling hot pot: the former comes with dumplings and kalguksu (knife-cut noodles), while the latter adds beef shabu-shabu too!
For every menu item, you can choose kimchi, pork, or half-and-half dumplings. There was also Gaeseong-style handmade kalguksu, plus steamed and fried dumplings as sides. For children, they offer beef-bone-broth tteok mandu-guk (rice-cake dumpling soup) and tteokguk (rice-cake soup).

Barane ordered the half-and-half shabu-shabu dumpling hot pot for two~

The side dishes were pickled radish and kimchi. The kimchi especially had that homemade kimjang-kimchi style of flavor—delicious and just perfect with kalguksu.

You can help yourself to however many extra side dishes you need at the self-service bar.
Half-and-half shabu-shabu dumpling hot pot and steamed dumplings on the side
Soon, out came the shabu-shabu dumpling hot pot!

The hot pot for two includes two pork dumplings and two kimchi dumplings, plus two steamed dumplings served separately. Usually, with a shabu hot-pot dish, it feels a bit sad that you cannot try steamed dumplings unless you order them separately—but I loved that they served them here so you could taste them too~~👍

While waiting for the hot pot to boil, we tried the steamed dumplings first. They were really packed with filling, and the wrappers were delightfully chewy. Simply delicious dumplings in their own right!!

The shabu-shabu dumpling hot pot was generously filled with vegetables too, from mung bean sprouts and mushrooms to bok choy and napa cabbage~~ The broth was clean-tasting rather than overpowering. It was seriously so refreshing,,

For anyone who wants a spicy, peppery kick, I think you can ask for dadegi, a spicy seasoning paste, and add it in.

The dumplings in the hot pot were also huge dumplings packed with filling,, I am normally team kimchi dumpling, but the dumplings themselves were so good here that pork or kimchi, no matter the reason, they were all delicious hahaha. I officially recognize this as a great dumpling spot,,

Beef shabu-shabu, rice cakes, and kalguksu to finish
The beef for shabu-shabu that came with it was good quality too! The meat itself was clean, with no off smell, and lightly cooking it in the hot broth gave it just the right tender, moist texture.

Cook it just a little, dip it in the shabu soy sauce, and wow—it really gets your appetite going,, 💗 I expected only the dumplings to be good at a dumpling specialist, but the shabu beef was so delicious too,, hehe

There were also plenty of rice-cake slices in the hot pot,, They were soft yet chewy, and the broth had soaked into them, so they were tasty even on their own haha
And of course, kalguksu to finish~~~~ After eating dumplings, vegetables, and beef evenly, then a generous serving of kalguksu too, I was truly stuffed by the end,, 🤣 One shabu-shabu dumpling hot pot for two filled us up wonderfully,, 💫
For anyone craving both dumplings and shabu-shabu, definitely order the shabu-shabu dumpling hot pot!!! If you are deciding on lunch in Siksa-dong, I recommend Arirang Gaeseong Son Mandu Siksa Branch 🙌
