There's nothing quite like shabu-shabu when you're craving warm soup these days haha. I recently went to Deungchon Shabu Kalguksu Gran Passage Branch because I wanted shabu-shabu in Dongtan!!

At Deungchon Shabu Kalguksu you get to eat shabu-shabu, then kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup), and finish with fried rice, so it's a place I often think of when I want a solidly filling meal~ Today, for anyone looking for a good shabu-shabu spot in Dongtan, I'll introduce everything carefully — the store atmosphere, the menu, and what I ate~!
Where is Deungchon Shabu Kalguksu Gran Passage Branch, and is there parking?

Deungchon Shabu Kalguksu Gran Passage Branch is located on the 2nd floor of Gran Passage's Green Zone~ Parking matters quite a bit when eating in Dongtan, and here you get 2 hours free, so it was fine to visit by car!!
There's a break time though, so if you're planning a later lunch, it's a good idea to check the hours before visiting~
Inside Deungchon Shabu Kalguksu: seating and the waiting area
The Deungchon Shabu Kalguksu Gran Passage Branch space was overall clean and comfortable~

Since shabu-shabu is a dish where you put a pot in the middle of the table and share several ingredients, table space matters too — it felt just right and comfortable!!

It seemed like a good spot to meet a friend for a meal, or to visit for a family dinner or on a day you're craving warm soup haha

Especially since it's located inside Gran Passage, it seemed like a great option to stumble on while looking for somewhere to eat nearby~ If you're looking for a good shabu-shabu spot in Dongtan, this one's worth checking out too, right?!

The waiting seats were also neatly set up, but on my way out there was a huge line waiting.....!!
Deungchon Shabu Kalguksu menu: sets, a la carte and extra noodles
Deungchon Shabu Kalguksu has a variety of options prepared, from the basic menu to the set menu to extra noodles~
What comes in the shabu kalguksu sets
You can choose the broth from spicy / perilla / clear, and the shabu beef in the set menu is 180g~

A la carte dishes, add-ons and sides
In the basic menu, shabu beef is sold separately, and it's available for orders of 2 or more people~ There were also separate extra and side menus.

What we ordered: the set for two with spicy broth
We ordered the set for two + spicy broth that day!! When you think of Deungchon Shabu Kalguksu, spicy broth is the first thing that comes to mind, isn't it haha

The perilla or clear broths would probably be delicious too, but that day I really wanted a spicy, hot broth, so I chose spicy without hesitation~

A pile of mushrooms and minari (water dropwort)
The pot comes out with vegetables like mushrooms and minari (water dropwort) already in it — just looking at it felt like a sign that we were ready to eat shabu-shabu haha. Minari, when lightly cooked, keeps its fragrant, crisp texture, and it really pairs well with shabu-shabu~

The mushrooms also blend into the broth and add savory depth, and eating vegetables along with the meat made it feel much heartier than meat alone!!

Since preferences can vary, Deungchon Shabu Kalguksu Dongtan Gran Passage Branch let us choose a vegetable option when ordering — nice touch! Once the spicy broth started boiling, a delicious smell wafted up, and I was so eager to eat that I found myself grabbing my chopsticks first haha
And you all know the kimchi here is good... I kept scooping it up, and the staff kindly gave me a generous next plate. How did they know I'm the shy type... 🤭

The 180g of shabu beef
The 180g of shabu beef included in the set also came out~ You just lightly cook the thinly sliced meat in the boiling broth and eat it with the vegetables!!

Part of the charm of shabu-shabu is putting in just enough meat to eat right away rather than cooking it too long haha. Cooking the meat in the spicy broth, the clean flavor of the meat paired well with the hot, savory broth~

Eating vegetables and meat together gave a variety of textures, and with the warm broth on the side it made for a solid meal 😋 Sauces of soy sauce and wasabi are provided, so use them to taste!!
Kalguksu (hand-cut noodles) after the shabu-shabu
After eating a good amount of shabu-shabu, it's time for kalguksu!!

Adding noodles to the broth that's simmered with meat and vegetables gives you a whole different flavor from the first round of shabu-shabu~ The spicy broth soaking into the kalguksu noodles made it even more filling haha
Finishing the course with fried rice
And the last course is of course fried rice!! You can't skip the full course at Deungchon Shabu Kalguksu — from shabu-shabu to kalguksu to fried rice haha

After finishing the kalguksu, the staff moved the remaining broth into a bowl and prepared the fried rice.
But here's the real deal — they pressed the fried rice down, scraped it up, and brought it back in the pot 🥹 So good for scooping up...

You all know that dipping a bite in the broth and topping it with kimchi is amazing, right...?
Finishing with fried rice left me full and satisfied, like I'd had a proper meal~ Being able to enjoy multiple courses in sequence like this seems to be the real charm of Deungchon Shabu Kalguksu!! If you're looking for a good shabu-shabu spot in Dongtan and want warm broth and a hearty meal, the set for two seems like a solid choice 😊
Is Deungchon Shabu Kalguksu Gran Passage Branch worth it for Dongtan shabu-shabu?
At Deungchon Shabu Kalguksu Gran Passage Branch located in Dongtan's Gran Passage, I chose the set for two with spicy broth, and the lineup of mushrooms, minari, shabu beef, kalguksu, and fried rice was full and satisfying!!

Above all, 2 hours of free parking made it convenient to visit by car, and being inside Gran Passage makes it a handy reference when looking for a place to eat~ On a day you're craving spicy shabu-shabu in Dongtan, or want a warm meal with friends or family, this could be a good pick haha.
