Cream tteokbokki and bowl takoyaki at Nani Byeolgwan, a Yeongdeungpo

In short

Nani Byeolgwan Yeongdeungpo Branch is an izakaya in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul, a 2-minute walk from Times Square. The order covered pork and bean sprout stir-fry, cream tteokbokki, fried oysters, Nagasaki jjamppong, pork belly scallion skewers, chicken skewers and takoyaki served in a bowl, and the cream tteokbokki was the favourite — thick and rich without feeling heavy. With plenty of bar seats for solo drinks and a space that runs up to the second floor, Nani Byeolgwan works for both one person and a large group.

Yeongdeungpo is a neighborhood where all kinds of gatherings happen — company dinners, meetups with friends, dates — so there's no shortage of great restaurants and bars. I want to introduce a Yeongdeungpo izakaya that's perfect for enjoying a relaxed drink with a variety of menu items: Nani Byeolgwan Yeongdeungpo Branch.

An izakaya for a drink after work in Yeongdeungpo

Nani Byeolgwan Yeongdeungpo Branch has plenty of bar seating, making it a solid izakaya for solo drinking too. When picking an izakaya, atmosphere matters just as much as the food to me. Rather than a loud, chaotic place, I much prefer somewhere I can chat with company while relaxing over food and drinks.

Nani Byeolgwan Yeongdeungpo Branch works whether you want a casual drink with friends, a date, or a gathering with coworkers. With so much bar seating, it's also great for drinking solo~

What to order at Nani Byeolgwan to go with drinks

At Nani Byeolgwan Yeongdeungpo Branch, we ordered pork and bean sprout stir-fry, cream tteokbokki, fried oysters, Nagasaki jjamppong, skewers, and takoyaki, and shared them all. The charm of an izakaya is being able to enjoy so many drink-friendly dishes in one place. Ordering a big portion of one thing is nice, but there's also real fun in ordering several dishes and sharing with your table~

A generous plate of pork and bean sprout stir-fry

A generous, hearty portion, great for a group. It was so good eaten hot~

A rich plate of cream tteokbokki

My favorite menu item haha. Not greasy, just the right amount of creamy~ rich and delicious.

Fried oysters drenched in sauce

Fried oysters

You need something bold when you're drinking, right, haha. Fried oysters drenched in sauce! Delicious, of course!

Spicy broth of Nagasaki jjamppong

You need soup when you're drinking! It was spicy and delicious!!

Instead of truck-style takoyaki, this bowl-style takoyaki dish was a nice treat!

The wide space that continues up to the 2nd floor

Nani Byeolgwan Yeongdeungpo Branch is a spacious place that extends up to the 2nd floor, so it's great for group gatherings too. Having enough space is something I quietly consider important when visiting an izakaya. If you're visiting with a group or having a company dinner, you'd rather sit somewhere spacious and comfortable than cramped~

Good for friend get-togethers and dates alike

Who you're going with changes what you look for in a restaurant. For a meetup with friends, you want delicious side dishes and a relaxed place to chat. For a date, the atmosphere of the space matters as much as the food. For a work gathering, accessibility and a menu lineup that suits a group both matter.

Nani Byeolgwan Yeongdeungpo Branch works well for all of these situations. Even on an ordinary day, come by when you want good food with a drink after work, when you want to catch up with a friend you haven't seen in a while, or when you're in the mood for dinner with a bit of atmosphere!
