Pyeongchon pho restaurant with shrimp rolls and quẩy: Pho Witch

Today I want to introduce a pho restaurant on Pyeongchon's academy street! It really feels like Vietnam, and the staff are so kind, so it's the place that comes to mind whenever I'm craving pho — Pho Witch!

Today I'm introducing an Anyang pho restaurant, Pho Witch!!!

A Pyeongchon pho restaurant run by a brother and sister seven years apart

That big sign isn't for a couple, haha — it's run together by a brother and sister who are seven years apart, apparently.

Is Pho Witch busy at lunch? Nearly full at 1:30pm on a weekday

Oh, true to its reputation, there was a waiting-time sign posted! When I arrived around 1:30pm on a weekday, it was already nearly full — I noticed quite a few teachers from the academy street and foreign customers too. I guess that's how many people's tastes it's won over. Up front there were caramels for a snack or dessert!

There was also a prize draw event, and the restroom is a shared one outside.

Inside Pho Witch: solo seats, baby chairs and rabbit phone stands

The interior! It had a slightly exotic feel — really clean but full of Vietnamese atmosphere.

We were seated toward the back. Looking around, there were solo seats set up for people dining alone.

There was even a cute rabbit phone stand for solo diners. Next to it were baby chairs for kids. And that koala doll hanging from the tree... so cute it's a little unfair.

There was an explanation of Pho Witch on the wall, and the menu was posted so you could see everything at a glance.

Tablet kiosk ordering and Pho Witch sets for 1 to 4 people

Ordering was done via the tablet kiosk at each table. There was also a review event running!

Set menus came in all kinds of combinations, from 1 to 4 people. Since it was just the two of us, we chose the 2-person Sibling Set. Next time I'll try the 1-person set that comes with bánh mì too!

There were really so many kinds of pho — from regular to spicy. Some had short rib or seafood inside, and both looked delicious.

The stir-fry section had nasi goreng, pad thai, fried rice, and even com chien... the descriptions were all very detailed.

There were plenty of sides too — I was so disappointed I didn't get to try the bánh mì this time. Next visit, definitely ordering that.

They even had sodas!

What the Sibling Set includes: spicy pho, fire-flavor pad thai, shrimp rolls, quẩy

We ordered the Sibling Set, with Sister's Pick Spicy Pho and Passionate Siblings Fire-Flavor Pad Thai! For the side, we got the 3-piece shrimp rolls, and added quẩy too.

Shrimp rolls and quẩy (fried dough sticks)

First, the shrimp rolls and quẩy! The fried outside of the shrimp rolls was so crispy that I took a bite as soon as they arrived, haha. Dipped in the sweet chili sauce that came with them — a familiar taste is always the best. Delicious! The quẩy (Vietnamese fried dough stick) had a bit of a youtiao vibe — great dipped in the pho broth, but also chewy and tasty on its own!

Passionate Siblings Fire-Flavor Pad Thai

Next, the Passionate Siblings Fire-Flavor Pad Thai! It came stir-fried with shrimp, bacon, pineapple, bean sprouts and various other vegetables — nicely sweet and salty, the kind of taste you keep reaching back for! The noodles were cooked just right too, so they didn't get soggy or clump together, which I liked.

Sister's Pick Spicy Pho

Next, the Sister's Pick Spicy Pho! Made with hand-prepped ingredients in a delicious broth, generously loaded with brisket! The broth was really spicy — this level was just right for my taste. I actually thought about adding the cheongyang chili on top, but honestly if I had, I might've become a regular at the bathroom the next day, haha. Anyway, if you like spicy and rich flavors, I highly recommend it!! I ate it so happily, and the pairing with the sweet-salty pad thai was just right.

The prize draw on the way out: 4th prize

Before leaving, we took part in the prize draw! 1st prize was a ₩50,000 meal voucher (points earned), 2nd prize was the Sibling Set worth ₩27,500 (points earned), 3rd prize was Sibling Devotion Pho OR Sister's Pick Spicy Pho, 4th prize was mixed fritters, and 5th prize was mini vegetable spring rolls! Honestly even 5th prize would've been great... but I won 4th prize!! Haha, I'll keep it safe and come back to claim it.

What to try next at Pho Witch

I hadn't found a good pho place in the neighborhood yet, but now I have somewhere to go whenever I'm craving pho! What I had this time was so good, but next time I want to try the short rib pho, the nasi goreng, and the pineapple fried rice!! Coming back to work through the whole menu, haha. Return visit intention: 200%!
