Two validated parking lots at Samsam Milmyeon, Ulsan cold noodles

It's still pretty hot during the day even though it's technically fall — I'm one of those people who still feels the heat, haha. I kept meaning to try Samsam Milmyeon, the well-known milmyeon (cold noodle) spot in Dal-dong, every time I passed the terminal, so I finally went.

Where is Samsam Milmyeon Main Branch, and what are its hours?

Samsam Milmyeon Main Branch is at 7 Hwahap-ro 125beon-gil, Nam-gu, Ulsan, right next to Ulsan Terminal. It's open daily from 10:30 AM to 9:00 PM.

Parking validated in Samsan? Why walking to Samsam Milmyeon was a mistake

Samsam Milmyeon Main Branch offers parking support at two lots — Daegyeong Parking Lot and Paldo Paid Parking Lot. Parking is the biggest worry when eating out in Samsan, so I left the car and walked over, but it turns out this Dal-dong milmyeon spot gives parking support?? The lot was even spacious. Had I known, I would've driven, haha. Parking is available right across from the restaurant, so it would've been an easy visit — we suffered for nothing, lol.

The big white sign is visible from far away. Anyone can tell it's a milmyeon specialty restaurant just by looking at it.

There's a helpful notice posted at the entrance about parking support. Please note that parking support is available at two lots, Daegyeong Parking Lot and Paldo Paid Parking Lot.

Inside Samsam Milmyeon: high chairs and the lunchtime crowd

The moment I walked into Samsam Milmyeon Main Branch, I noticed baby chairs ready to go. No problem visiting with a baby here.

The interior is really spacious. The upside is you can sit and wait instead of standing at the entrance even during busy hours!! I went around 1pm, and it seemed quiet at first since earlier customers had cleared out, but while I waited, a wave of customers came in and delivery orders kept coming in too. It seems like a lot of people visit for lunch around noon and 1pm.

The three-item menu: water milmyeon, bibim milmyeon, dumplings

The menu at Samsam Milmyeon Main Branch is just three items: water milmyeon, bibim milmyeon, and dumplings. I checked the menu board before ordering and it was really simple. I figured a simple menu means more focus on the signature dishes, so I was excited.

You order using the tablet at each table. It even has a card reader attached, so you can pay right there too.

Water milmyeon (double) / Bibim milmyeon (double) / Dumplings

When you visit a milmyeon place, you've got to try a bit of everything, right? It was late lunch and I was hungry, so I ordered double portions. Couldn't skip the dumplings either, haha.

You can also choose options when ordering. You can leave out the cucumber, or for the bibim milmyeon, leave out the skate sashimi. I liked that you can adjust things so you don't have to force yourself to eat what you can't.

Samsam Milmyeon, the well-known Dal-dong milmyeon spot, also does delivery. Orders kept coming in even after lunchtime had passed.

The restroom is located next to the counter. (I didn't use it though.)

I'm a messy eater, so an apron is a must whenever I eat red food. Ulsan Pay payment is also accepted here.

The warm broth and side dishes served first

At Samsam Milmyeon Main Branch, they first brought out pickled radish, seasoned radish, and soy sauce for the dumplings. They also brought warm broth, which was really appealing. It's labeled as beef broth, and it was clean and refreshing — right up my alley. I kept sipping it little by little, and before I knew it, it was gone — I almost asked for a refill but held back, haha.

It wasn't long before the food arrived. I liked that everything was served all at once!! When dishes come out one by one, it's awkward for whoever eats first or last, but having it all served together meant I could take photos and it was just so much better.

Water milmyeon, double portion: how big and how good is the broth?

I expected the double portion of water milmyeon at Samsam Milmyeon Main Branch to be a lot, but it was really a LOT, haha.

I mixed the noodles and stirred in some dadaegi (spicy sauce), took a hearty bite, and the amount barely seemed to go down. The broth was refreshing like dongchimi (radish water kimchi) broth, but also had a deep, rich flavor — and personally I liked that it wasn't a single dominant flavor. Combined with the dadaegi, a slight spicy kick hit the back of my throat, so I could enjoy it deliciously to the last bite. When it's hot out, milmyeon really is the answer!

Bibim milmyeon arrives already mixed

The bibim milmyeon at Samsam Milmyeon Main Branch comes already fully mixed, so it was easy to eat. This one was also a big portion. Honestly, mixing it yourself often makes a mess, and if parts stay unmixed or the sauce clumps, it's annoying to eat.

Just stir a couple times to blend the cucumber, radish, and skate sashimi, and you're ready to eat. The savory oil aroma and just-right spiciness made this bibim milmyeon appealing. I put it on top of the egg and dug in! Am I the only one who eats it this way, haha.

Dumplings straight from the steamer

The dumplings at Samsam Milmyeon Main Branch seemed to be meat dumplings, and they were hot and delicious, like they'd just come out of the steamer. The filling was generous too — savory, full of juice, and with a slightly sweet flavor the moment you bite in. Dipped lightly in soy sauce, that's the taste right there!

Verdict: a Dal-dong milmyeon restaurant that suits solo diners too

The portions were generous and the food was delicious. Plenty of people came to Samsam Milmyeon Main Branch to eat alone, and plenty came in pairs or groups of three. Since delivery is also available, I heard a lot of delivery order chimes going off. But most of all!! Parking is tough in Samsan, so the parking support was what I liked most. Easy parking, fast food, and above all, delicious — Samsam Milmyeon was a satisfying find in Dal-dong, Ulsan. It's right next to the terminal, close to department stores and movie theaters too, so if you're in the area, give Samsam Milmyeon a try.
