Haeundae Chinese restaurant after the beach with kids: Bueokgan

Here's my review of a Chinese restaurant we visited while out in Haeundae. Our kids love jajangmyeon and tangsuyuk so much that after playing at Haeundae Beach, we went looking for somewhere to have dinner and ended up here — Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch, known as a Marine City must-visit restaurant.

Where is Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch, and what are the hours?

It's located at 51 Marine City 3-ro, Haeundae-gu, Busan, South Korea, on the 2nd floor above Suybeon Choego Pork Gukbap.

• Parking: Use the Adelis complex parking lot, 90 minutes free

It's on the 2nd floor right above Suybeon Choego Pork Gukbap, which is super famous in Busan. So it's really easy to find!

How does parking at the Adelis complex work?

For parking, enter through the Adelis main gate toward the visitor/commercial gate, press the call button and follow the instructions to get in, receive a parking ticket from the attendant, and get it stamped when you pay for your meal — that gets you 90 minutes free. ◡̈⋆ The generous parking time made it easy to eat with the kids without feeling rushed. Known as a Dongbaekseom must-visit spot too, it's a handy location to keep in mind when looking for a Haeundae restaurant.

Why Bueokgan Chinese is easy with kids: the sink at the entrance

The moment we walked into Bueokgan Chinese, what caught my eye was a handwashing sink set up near the entrance. When you come with kids, you can wash their hands before sitting down, which felt both hygienic and practical — a thoughtful little detail that stuck with me.

The interior felt calm and upscale rather than the usual bustling Chinese restaurant vibe. There are ocean-view window seats facing Dongbaekseom, and on a nice day, sitting there gives you a full view of the island and the sea — great for photos or just sitting and enjoying the view.

The lighting was pretty too, haha.

There's group seating and private rooms too, so it seemed like a good spot for family meals or gatherings. Actually, on the day we visited, there was a work dinner happening at the group table, haha. Baby chairs were available too, which made it easy to visit with kids like us. They even had disposable aprons ready for people wearing white.

Orders are placed via the kiosk at the table, and payment happens on the way out — a pay-later system that made things easy and hassle-free.

Looking at the menu, there was everything from basic jajangmyeon and jjamppong to more unusual options like poached-egg ganjajang and mala-gochu jjamppong. For dishes to share, they had tangsuyuk, kkanpung shrimp, nurungjitang, and other good drinking-food options. They also had a wide range of alcohol — gaoliang, beer, soju — so it seemed like a great spot for a drinking meal too, not just dining with kids like us. We ordered poached-egg ganjajang, black vinegar tangsuyuk, and abalone fried rice for the kids to share.

So pretty visually... I usually just think of a fried egg on top of ganjajang, but topping it with a poached egg was really good too!

We mixed it all together and slurped it right up. It tasted really great too!

Next up was the tangsuyuk (small) — the jajangmyeon was good, but the tangsuyuk was really the standout. It came with a black vinegar sauce, and the batter was crispy while the sauce was sweet without being too tangy — a flavor that would please just about anyone.

Next came the abalone fried rice, and the kids ate it up so well that I was glad I ordered it as a kids' dish.

The basic side dishes were jjajangmuchim (pickled radish and cabbage) and danmuji (pickled yellow radish).

Ocean view from the window seat, and how long we waited

Sitting at the window seat, we got to properly enjoy the ocean view. Watching the sparkling yachts pass by, both kids and adults could enjoy the meal. Between the ocean view, the atmosphere, and the food quality, I thought, 'For Haeundae, this is a reasonable and delicious meal.'

We visited outside peak dining hours, so we got seated right away without much of a wait, but it can get busy on weekends or during peak meal times, so keep that in mind before visiting.

As we were wrapping up our meal, the group at the table having their work dinner said they had something to celebrate and wanted to share cake with everyone — they handed out a slice to every table. The kids loved it so much, haha. Group use is available for anywhere from 5 to 40 people, and reservations can be made via Catch Table, so if you're planning to use it for a gathering or work dinner, I'd recommend booking ahead.

After finishing our meal, we took a short walk looking out at Gwangan Bridge in the distance before heading home! It was a happy day, ending a fun weekend outing with a delicious meal.
