Poached-egg ganjajang at a Marine City Chinese restaurant: Bueokgan

Today I want to introduce a Marine City spot where I got to enjoy delicious Chinese food while looking out at the sea during a trip to Haeundae, Busan. Since it's a place where Gwangan Bridge and the Haeundae beach unfold right in front of you, I could enjoy tasty food and also feel like I was on a real vacation. Here's my Bueokgan Chinese review :)

Where is Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch in Haeundae?

Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch is located in the Marine City restaurant row, so it wasn't hard to find — it's on the 2nd floor of Suybeon Choego Dwaejigukbap (a pork bone soup restaurant).

Where do you park at Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch?

Since you can use the building's parking lot, it was convenient to visit by car — the Adelis commercial building parking lot is free to use, and roadside parking in front of the restaurant is also available.

The moment I opened the door, the first thing that caught my eye was the wide-open Marine City ocean view. The weather was really nice on the day I visited, and I found that on a good-weather day, this is a Marine City spot where you can eat with a truly great mood.

Bueokgan Chinese is a Chinese restaurant, but overall it had a clean and stylish feel.

Private rooms at Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch

Besides the hall seating, there are also private room spaces where you can dine privately, which seemed great for family gatherings or group meals.

Take a look at the interior mood :) It had a calm yet upscale atmosphere, good for taking your time and enjoying the meal slowly.

What we ordered: sooran ganjajang, eohyang gaji and abalone shrimp fried rice

What we ordered was sooran ganjajang (thick black bean noodles with a poached egg), eohyang gaji (fish-fragrance style eggplant), and abalone shrimp fried rice.

This is the abalone shrimp fried rice, made by slicing fresh abalone and plump shrimp into bite-sized pieces and stir-frying them over high heat with egg rice.

The abalone shrimp fried rice really felt different from the fried rice you'd normally get at a typical Chinese restaurant — the rice was fried to a light, fluffy texture, and the clean, savory flavor of the shrimp and abalone made it really delicious.

This is the sooran ganjajang. The round poached egg sitting on top of the ganjajang caught the eye right away, visually.

The noodles had a springy, chewy texture too, and the sauce coated them evenly so every bite had a savory, nutty flavor. It had better umami than regular jjajangmyeon.

Next up is the eohyang gaji. If you like eggplant dishes, this is one you should try.

Softly cooked eggplant topped with an eohyang sauce made from pork and doubanjiang (spicy fermented bean paste) — it was delicious on its own, but it was also really good spooned over the abalone shrimp fried rice.

The moist, soft texture unique to eggplant combined with the rich flavor of the seasoning gave it a charm quite different from a regular eggplant side dish. Every dish we ordered that day was a hit!!

Is Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch worth a daytime visit?

That day, we ordered a wide variety — from sooran ganjajang to eohyang gaji to abalone shrimp fried rice — and enjoyed a hearty meal. The taste of the food, the stylish interior, and being able to eat while looking out at the Haeundae sea were all impressive at this Marine City spot. If you're visiting Haeundae in Busan and looking for a place to eat with an ocean view, I'd recommend giving Bueokgan Chinese a try :)
