There are plenty of places in Busan selling ganjang gejang (soy-marinated crab) and yangnyeom gejang (spicy marinated crab), but a real crab specialist that skips frozen crab and uses Jeju yellow crab is rare.

Deodo Gejang, which I visited with my mom in Marine City, is already a famous name in Yangsan, well-regarded enough to ship nationwide by courier. This same Deodo Gejang just opened a new branch in Haeundae's Marine City, so I had to check it out.

Deodo Gejang is open from 11am to 8pm. With no break time and no closed days, you can drop in for lunch or dinner anytime.

Deodo Gejang's interior and seating: is it good with kids?

At about 60 pyeong, Deodo Gejang has a clean, upscale Korean-restaurant vibe, making it good for gatherings, family meals out, or dates.

There are no private rooms, but the tables are spaced generously apart, which is more than enough for chatting comfortably with whoever you're dining with.

Baby chairs are available too, making Deodo Gejang a solid choice for a Haeundae restaurant to visit with kids.

Deodo Gejang menu prices and takeout options

The signature menus are the assorted marinated seafood pot rice set, ajju bulgogi + yellow crab + pot rice, and grilled fish + yellow crab + pot rice.

Assorted marinated seafood, abalone marinade, octopus marinade, and peeled shrimp marinade are all available for takeout, so it's a good option if you'd rather eat at home.

The 48,000 won grilled fish trio, soy crab and pot rice set

Mom and I ordered the "grilled fish trio + soy crab + nutrient pot rice" set for ₩48,000. Once we actually ate it, the price felt like a steal for how generous the spread was.

The nicely browned grilled fish and the Jeju yellow crab soy marinade both catch your eye right away.

A colorful spread of side dishes also comes along — bulgogi, savory pancakes, cucumber salad, seaweed soup, and crab doenjang stew.

This bulgogi hot pot alone looked like it could finish off a whole bowl of rice by itself — and here it was, just a side dish.

Jeju yellow crab gejang: how meaty is it?

Since it's Jeju yellow crab caught in Jeju's clean waters rather than frozen crab, it looks great from the start.

The meat is so packed in that one bite fills your mouth completely — satisfying stuff. Good crab really is different.

Grilled fish trio and nutritious pot rice

All three types of fish were incredibly savory. The grilled flounder in particular had more meat than it looked like it would.

With three whole grilled fish included in the set, the ₩48,000 price gave the two of us a meal satisfying enough to feel like we'd landed in Jeju.

They also serve a nutrient-rich pot rice with sweet pumpkin and ginkgo nuts, making for a hearty meal alongside the crab and grilled fish.

Finishing with sungnyung (scorched rice tea) at the end cleanses the palate perfectly. The food composition and taste are excellent enough to understand why this place is already famous in Yangsan.

Who is Deodo Gejang best for?

There are many restaurants in Marine City, but Deodo Gejang is a great Korean restaurant to visit with parents or a partner.

Deodo Gejang is a Haeundae soy crab spot that lets you have both health and taste. Next time, I'd like to try the spicy marinated crab and peeled shrimp marinade too.
