Summer vacation with my baby tiger 🐯🌊 We were originally planning to go to Jeonju... but! I wanted to see the sea and suddenly craved buckwheat gimbap too, so we rerouted to Gangneung ʕ⁎≻◡ꔷʔ┉☆

Gossi's Donghae Makguksu & Sundubu Kalguksu Main Branch is 🐶pet-friendly — you can use the 3rd floor, though large dogs must contact the restaurant in advance.

General customers are mostly seated on the 2nd floor! Since the spaces are separated, even people with dog allergies don't need to worry~

The basic side dishes are radish pickle, yeolmu kimchi (young radish greens kimchi), and kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi) — three kinds — and if you need more, there's a self-serve bar with small plates and kids' spoons, so feel free to use it ∈( ・_____・ )∋

Buckwheat gimbap by the sea — and it's gotten bigger

A shot with the sea before the perilla oil makguksu arrived 📸 This right here is that Gangneung ocean-view restaurant~⛱️

Last time I came, the gimbap wasn't this chunky... did it bulk up?! The size got bigger! (*●⁰ꈊ⁰●)ﾉ I remembered the smaller size and ordered three whole rolls of gimbap...!! It's fine~ it's delicious~

Spicy pepper buckwheat gimbap

My favorite 💚 buckwheat gimbap is the spicy pepper gimbap‼️ Instead of rice, aged black vinegar buckwheat noodles are rolled with Gangwon-do's traditional myeongtae sikhae (fermented pollock) and spicy peppers — a sweet-and-spicy diet keto gimbap

Eel buckwheat gimbap

Gangwon-style buckwheat jeonbyeong

Two pieces of Gangwon-style buckwheat jeonbyeong (buckwheat crepe), crispy outside and soft inside, packed with kimchi filling. I've had buckwheat jeonbyeong at a lot of restaurants and always come away disappointed because it tastes frozen — but I guess it's different in Gangwon-do?? From the size to the taste, this one was perfect 👍👍

Perilla oil makguksu

Made with 100% domestic organic perilla oil, this makguksu has a deep aroma and nutty flavor that really shines. Once you're about halfway through, add a bit of broth (bonito flakes) and the savory flavor comes alive even more

Gangwon-do gift corner next to the 1st-floor register

You pay on the 1st floor, and right next to the register there's a separate Gangwon-do gift corner with a good variety of products! Lots of celebrities have visited so there are plenty of autographs on display, and I was curious about the nurungji (scorched rice) flavor so I bought some — it's crunchy and crackly, a great snack to eat while driving ෆꔛ(⑉･ ･⑉)ꔛෆ

The water makguksu and bibim makguksu being served to other tables looked good too...! I really wish I had two stomachs. A Gangneung trip full of delicious food is just the best~ Eating light but filling from the morning got the whole trip off to a great start

Packing the buckwheat gimbap to go — tastes the same at home

I already had it in mind to pack the buckwheat gimbap to take home before we even left, so capital-J me brought an ice pack from home,,, and after wandering around Gangneung all day, it still tasted exactly the same when we got home 🤭🤭
