Sokcho Korean restaurant takeout: Hwangbuja Twigim squid dishes
In short
Hwangbuja Twigim is a Korean restaurant in Sokcho Central Market, Gangwon, where my family ordered nurungji ojingeo sundae and fried squid to take away. The squid was plump and satisfying, while the sundae paired chewy squid with crispy scorched rice; although there was a line, it was ready sooner than expected.

Where is Hwangbuja Twigim?
Hwangbuja Twigim (황부자튀김) is at units 26 and 27 of Sokcho Tourist & Fishery Market, 16 Jungang-ro 147beon-gil, Sokcho-si, Gangwon State. The hours listed in the original post are 08:00–20:30, and it is regularly closed every Tuesday. You can use the Sokcho Central Market public parking lot.

It was in the market's main alley, so it was not difficult to find. When I visited, people were lined up for a long way in front of the shop.

What was on the menu, and how long did the order take?
There were individual items and set menus, including ojingeo sundae (stuffed squid), long-legged fried squid, and fried shrimp.

The fried items displayed in front of the shop included both real food and models. It was fun to look over the menu while waiting.

As soon as I ordered, they coated the ojingeo sundae in egg wash and grilled it at the front. Watching it cook, I could see that the squid was packed full of filling.

There were two cooking stations, one on each side. Even with a wait, the food was ready sooner than I expected because both stations were cooking at once.

They were also continually preparing ingredients at the back of the shop. As orders kept coming in, the ingredient preparation did not stop.

We ordered nurungji ojingeo sundae for the first time. I was curious about the texture that nurungji (scorched rice) would add to the ojingeo sundae I usually eat.

Can you eat in, or is takeout available?
While waiting, I saw that there was a cool indoor dining area. I thought it would be nice to eat there on a hot day.

My family was planning to go to a family hot-spring bath, so we packed the nurungji ojingeo sundae and fried squid to go.

How large and filling was the fried squid?
We took out one piece each and tried them in the car. The fried squid caught my eye first because of its long legs and large size.

It had plump squid meat inside, which made it enjoyable to chew. I was satisfied not only with the size but also with how substantial the filling was.

We received six pieces of fried squid in total. They were large enough that even two pieces felt quite filling. My older child also held one in a single hand and ate it well.

What is the texture of nurungji ojingeo sundae?
The nurungji ojingeo sundae was grilled to a golden brown. It had such a generous amount of filling that it was spilling out of the squid.

The chewiness of the ojingeo sundae was joined by the nutty flavor and crisp bite of the nurungji. It had a different texture from the ojingeo sundae I usually eat, and I enjoyed it.

It was also fairly thick. With filling packed inside, just a few pieces felt satisfying.

Hwangbuja Twigim also sold frozen products. This time we packed food to eat right away, but I thought frozen products could be an option when traveling a long distance.
