Wondang Station boxing gym, couple workout and hook fix: Seongrok
In short
Seongrok Boxing Gym is a boxing gym in Deogyang-gu, Goyang, 909 meters from Wondang Station Exit 6. The writer went with her boyfriend for a couple workout — 3 rounds of jump rope to warm up, the day's strength routine, and the gravity-free bike — and the coach pointed out exactly what was wrong with her hook. With sandbags in a range of weights, a weight zone, a stair climber, treadmills and a spacious ring, Seongrok Boxing Gym suits experienced boxers who want to reset their form as much as first-timers.

This time I went to Seongrok Boxing Gym with my boyfriend! We both love boxing and wanted to try out a new gym together, so we headed to Seongrok Boxing Gym haha

Inside Seongrok Boxing Gym: sandbags by weight, weight zone, stair climber
The first thing I noticed walking into Seongrok Boxing Gym was that it's bigger than I expected! There were all kinds of sandbags set up inside, several of different weights, so you could pick whichever one you wanted to work out with

Personally, I really liked that there's a separate weight zone. It's not just a space for boxing — you can do weight training too, plus there's a stair climber and treadmills, so the whole setup lets you mix up your workout nicely

The workout that day: 3 rounds of jump rope to the gravity-free bike
At Seongrok Boxing Gym, we started by stretching together to warm up, then did 3 rounds of jump rope.

Warming up before working out is just routine for us, so we got right into it. We were going to make up our own routine as usual, but it turned out this gym had a day-specific strength training program, so we followed that instead haha

After that we did some basic conditioning and about 2 rounds on the gravity-free bike

The 1:1 coaching that caught the problem in my hook
At Seongrok Boxing Gym, the coach and the gym director give direct 1:1 instruction. If you keep boxing for a while, you tend to develop habits or forms without even realizing it, so having someone check those every now and then really seems to help.
And this time the coach pinpointed exactly what was wrong with my hook, which really stuck with me lol. I've been boxing for a while now, so I thought I had a decent handle on my own form, but the coach immediately pointed out exactly what was off when I threw a hook

Seongrok Boxing Gym says its coaching staff have pro and elite boxing backgrounds, and I could really feel that while working out — they don't just leave members to their own devices, they keep watching and checking in. What I especially liked is that even for someone like me who's already boxed for a while, they don't just teach the same thing to everyone — they look at your current form and correct whatever's lacking
Fighting until the day Haning nails her sparring,,,💛
Mitt work in the ring, and why it works as a couple workout
The ring at Seongrok Boxing Gym is quite a bit bigger than at other gyms, which I liked. When I was there, someone was actually getting mitt coaching in the ring — so it's not just hitting sandbags, you can also work out getting mitts held for you and have your stance and movements checked directly in the ring
And working out with my boyfriend meant we kept an eye on each other's form too lol. Since we both love boxing, even while doing our own thing we kept cheering each other on in between, which made it fun

Actor Jung Hae-in had apparently come by too!
Having worked out there myself, I think anyone looking for a boxing gym in Wondang should check out the coaching style as well as the facilities. Seongrok Boxing Gym had a spacious workout area and coaches who genuinely watch your form directly, which I liked. It's great for total beginners who can learn the basics from scratch, and also good for someone like me who's boxed for a while and wants to recheck my footwork or punching form. If you're looking for boxing in Wondang, Seongrok Boxing Gym is worth checking out
Check out the video too to see how clean the place is!

Is Seongrok Boxing Gym worth it? Final verdict
They went back over my footwork in detail from scratch, and I especially liked that they pinpointed exactly what was wrong with my hook. The facility is spacious too, with sandbags of various weights, plus a weight zone, stair climber, and treadmills, which made working out comfortable — and the ring is on the bigger side!
Above all, I liked that coaches with pro and elite boxing careers give direct instruction and keep watching over members instead of leaving them alone. My boyfriend had been searching around Hwajeong for a while, but he liked this place so much he signed up on the spot that same day!
