Chuncheon Arboretum drive lunch with a baby: Gapyeong dakgalbi, Dami
In short
Dami Seorak Charcoal-grilled Dakgalbi is a charcoal-grilled dakgalbi (grilled chicken) restaurant on Hanseo-ro in Seorak-myeon, Gapyeong, Gyeonggi, cooking over domestic oak charcoal. Stopping in with a baby on a weekend drive to the Chuncheon Arboretum, the writer ordered one serving each of spicy and soy sauce dakgalbi at 15,000 won, then added mul-makguksu (cold buckwheat noodles in broth) and a doenjang-jjigae (soybean paste stew) with rice set for 5,000 won each. Baby chairs, wide aisles and a grill set off to one side of the table made Dami Seorak an easy lunch stop with a baby.

Dami Seorak Charcoal-grilled Dakgalbi - Daily 10:00–21:00 (last order 20:00)

Why stop at Dami Seorak on the way to the Chuncheon Arboretum?
This weekend's Gapyeong find, visited with my baby, was Dami Seorak Charcoal-grilled Dakgalbi on Hanseo-ro in Seorak-myeon. The weather's been so nice lately that it's perfect for spontaneous little trips, so we said, let's go to Chuncheon, to my favorite arboretum! 🍃
Since the baby's condition matters too, we wanted to have lunch before heading to the arboretum, and Dami Seorak Charcoal-grilled Dakgalbi happened to be right on the way!

Where is Dami Seorak Charcoal-grilled Dakgalbi, and is there parking?
📍 Location 150 Hanseo-ro, Seorak-myeon, Gapyeong-gun, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea (115-4 Changui-ri)
It's right next to a convenience store, which is great. A convenient stop on the way to or from Gapyeong IC, Shine Dale, and The Stay Healing Park.
📍 Parking There's a large lot right in front of the restaurant, very convenient!

The banchan spread, including fresh deodeok root salad
Wow! I fell in love with the side dish spread before even eating the dakgalbi.. The number of banchan, and every single one is something I love ㅠ_ㅠㅠㅠ They even serve fresh deodeok (mountain bellflower root) salad! Amazing! And the portions are so generous, right?
🐔 This is a charcoal-grilled dakgalbi restaurant made only with domestic chicken and domestic charcoal. The vegetables are domestic too, and even the ingredients used for the sauce mix and to tenderize the chicken are all fruit and fresh ingredients. The signature side dishes — deodeok salad, chive salad, and pickled radish — are a point of difference from other dakgalbi restaurants. They say the fresh deodeok salad has a wonderful aroma eaten raw, and the texture is amazing when grilled together with the dakgalbi over charcoal.

Spicy vs soy sauce dakgalbi: one serving of each, 15,000 won
Whew..! Doesn't this look amazing. Personally I prefer the charcoal-grilled dakgalbi! It feels like eating just the concentrated flavor, somehow..? Hahaha. We ordered spicy dakgalbi and soy sauce dakgalbi together. You can order single servings, or even half and half! (The spicy sauce isn't too hot, so I think kids could eat it too.)
The rice cake grilled along with the dakgalbi is so good… @_@

Dessert: mul-makguksu and doenjang-jjigae with rice, 5,000 won each
The spicy and soy sauce dakgalbi both come pre-cooked with a deep charcoal aroma soaked in! The dessert menu was well done too, so we ordered a doenjang-jjigae + rice set along with mul-makguksu. ✔️ Both priced so nicely at ₩5,000 each!

They can also pack it up neatly to go! Should be useful for anyone staying overnight nearby.
3 things that made Dami Seorak easy with a baby
Anyway! The restaurant is spacious, and above all ✔️👶🏻 here's a summary of what made it good to visit with a baby!
- 1) There were so many baby chairs available that the whole vibe of the place felt like "kids welcome ^_^".
- 2) Even a large (deluxe) stroller fit in without any trouble.
- 3) The grill isn't set in the middle of the table but pushed off to one side! So if the baby sits on the other side, you can keep them far from the fire 👍🏻
All in all, we ate well and left satisfied, then continued on our fun trip 🚗 Hope this helps anyone looking for a good dakgalbi restaurant near Gapyeong IC.
