Spicy octopus with steamed egg in Yongmun Market: Jjigaen Jjukkumi
In short
Jjigaen Jjukkumi Yongmun Market Branch is a jjukkumi samgyeopsal (spicy baby octopus and pork belly) restaurant in Yongmun Market by Hyochang Park Station in Yongsan, Seoul, featured in the Yongmun Market episode of the TV show Nolla-un Saturday. Spicy octopus with pork belly for two came to 32,000 won, plus steamed egg at 5,000 won and flying fish roe fried rice at 4,000 won, and the default heat sits right at Shin Ramyun level — pleasantly hot rather than punishing. This time I'm introducing a spicy octopus spot I love — a restaurant near Yongmun Market by Hyochang Park Station, a spicy octopus and pork belly place called Jjigaen Jjukkumi (찌갠쭈꾸미). It was featured on the TV show Nolla-un Saturday.

Jjigaen Jjukkumi in three honest lines
- A local favorite among Yongmun Market regulars
- Featured on the TV show Nolla-un Saturday
- A spicy octopus and pork belly spot perfect for drinks
What are the exterior and interior of Jjigaen Jjukkumi like?

A restaurant near Yongmun Market by Hyochang Park Station, near the Yongsan Electronics Market, and a spicy octopus and pork belly spot — Jjigaen Jjukkumi, featured on Nolla-un Saturday. There were so many customers outside that I couldn't even get a photo. The exterior alone gives off that unmistakable 'good restaurant' energy.

There are both round and square tables. The number of tables seemed just right. The whole place was clean and pleasant — you could tell they take good care of it. It looked like a great spot for a work dinner too, with room for groups of two, three, or four.

Apparently the owner is an amazing skier. When I asked, it turns out he's even won medals — an incredible guy. I love interior details with a story like that.
Jjigaen Jjukkumi menu and prices

The menu board of this spicy octopus spot. True to its name, Jjigaen Jjukkumi (which means 'stewed spicy octopus') also serves great jjigae (stew). When we arrived, some neighborhood elders were already having a drink with their stew. I'll have to try the kimchi jjigae next time. Today, though, we ordered spicy octopus pork belly for two and steamed egg 😋
How spicy is the Yongmun Market octopus and pork belly? About Shin Ramyun
At Jjigaen Jjukkumi, the spicy octopus pork belly is ₩16,000 per serving, steamed egg is ₩5,000, and flying fish roe fried rice is ₩4,000. We ordered the two-person spicy octopus pork belly for ₩32,000, and the full Jjigaen Jjukkumi spread arrived — perilla leaves, stir-fried fish cake, pickled radish, bean sprouts, and mayonnaise sauce.

Gorgeous-looking spicy octopus and pork belly. When ordering, I found out the base spice level is Shin Ramyun heat! Just the right amount of spicy, I think. Loaded with bean sprouts, and pork belly stir-fried in its own fat with the octopus. It had genuinely been a while since I had spicy octopus, and honestly, when I think of octopus in this Yongmun Market neighborhood, this place is the first that comes to mind.

Steamed egg for ₩5,000. Fluffy and light, it paired really well with the spicy octopus pork belly. It also helped calm the spice down while staying soft and comforting.

The spicy octopus pork belly sizzling away. I immediately tried a bite wrapped in a perilla leaf. It had been a while since I had this dish and it was genuinely delicious. The seasoning at Jjigaen Jjukkumi really hits the spot.

The heat was exactly what you'd call Shin Ramyun level. Pleasantly spicy spicy octopus pork belly that really made me crave a drink. But since I had to drive, I held myself back hard. Funny enough, the table next to us said they'd overdone it drinking the night before and were trying to hold off today too — but they couldn't resist, ordered one bottle, basically finished it in one go, and immediately ordered another. They said when the food's this good you just can't stop drinking, and honestly, I totally got it. If I'd let myself order just one bottle, I don't think I could've stopped either. It was that kind of dangerously good, drink-inducing flavor.

Flying fish roe fried rice for ₩4,000. Of course you finish with fried rice. It was fantastic too — perfect. Next time I'm definitely coming back to drink properly 😉
Is Jjigaen Jjukkumi worth a visit? Final verdict

A restaurant near Yongmun Market by Hyochang Park Station, and a spicy octopus spot I finally revisited after a long while — Jjigaen Jjukkumi, featured in the Yongmun Market episode of Nolla-un Saturday 😊 Pleasantly spicy octopus pork belly, soft and fluffy steamed egg, and a perfect fried rice finish. The spicy octopus pork belly had me craving soju so badly. I'll definitely be back to drink properly next time! And now I've discovered this place has free corkage — I'll have to bring some traditional liquor next time.
