Songdo café with castella salt bread: Cafe Cozy Bear

In short

Cafe Cozy Bear Salt Bread Bakery Songdo Hagwonga Branch is a bakery café in Yeonsu, Incheon. A weekday visit around 4:30 p.m. found the popular salt breads sold out, but castella, potato, red bean butter, and plain salt breads made for a satisfying takeaway. Verdict: go early for the best selection.

I went to Cafe Cozy Bear Salt Bread Bakery Songdo Hagwonga Branch, a bakery café in Songdo, Incheon, to buy salt bread. The conclusion of this post is: if you want delicious bread, you have to be diligent ㅠ That’s because... perhaps because it is famous for salt bread in Songdo, all the salt breads I originally wanted were sold out... Ha... This is Cafe Cozy Bear, the Incheon Songdo café I’ll be trying again later; this is what the exterior looks like.

Cafe Cozy Bear in Songdo 1st District: location and bread baking times

It is in Songdo 1st District, near The Sharp Harbor View Apartments. There was a cute bear character carrying salt bread drawn on the exterior. Mm-hmm... it definitely has that cozy aesthetic-café feel.

Cafe Cozy Bear’s salt bread is made with French fermented butter and solar salt, and only a set quantity is baked fresh each day! Bread comes out just twice a day, at 09:00 and 14:00, so keep that in mind: time your visit right and you can get freshly baked, warm salt bread.

There is also a public parking lot nearby, so it was perfect for parking briefly and popping in to buy bread.

A café with coffee and tea as well as salt bread

Songdo bakery café Cafe Cozy Bear is famous for great salt bread, but it is also known as a good café in Songdo. Along with its signature vanilla bean cream latte, it sold a range of coffee and tea options.

Coffee beans... aesthetic photo... I did not drink coffee, but took a picture anyway.

Ah, anyway, people who cannot get there early do not have much choice haha sob. Cafe Cozy Bear’s popular items, including pollock roe salt bread and garlic salt bread, had long since sold out. Only an empty display case remained...

Thankfully, castella salt bread—one of the items I wanted—was still there, so I could buy one. Sobbbb. It was not even that late!!! For reference, this was at 16:30 on a weekday...

The nearly empty display. Still, I was lucky that a few kinds remained, and I snagged the last red bean butter salt bread.

Plain salt bread must come out often, because it was waiting to be displayed. I took photos of the lovely warm breads.

Tasting the 3+1 salt bread takeaway

Cafe Cozy Bear’s bakery items use domestic red beans that are cooked in-house. For the new-opening promotion, buying three salt breads gets you one extra free. I made sure to take advantage of the 3+1 event and brought my salt breads home in a cute bear bag. Rather than eating there, I got them to go; I barely resisted the things I wanted to eat immediately, came home, and opened up the salt breads. Pant, pant, pant.

Eek~~~~ The little bear carrying the salt bread is so cute. Now, let’s taste them.

Castella salt bread and plain salt bread. The regular salt bread was mild, pleasantly salty, and soft—the kind of salt bread that gets the basics exactly right!! The castella salt bread had the soft flavor of the plain version with a little extra sweetness added ㄷㄷ.

Potato salt bread and red bean butter salt bread

Potato salt bread and red bean butter salt bread

Potato salt bread and red bean butter salt bread. The red bean paste in the red bean butter bread was nicely sweet without being too sweet, the kind of flavor that makes you keep eating! Perhaps because it uses premium French butter, Cafe Cozy Bear’s salt bread had an especially lovely buttery aroma, too! The potato salt bread was even packed with something like mashed potato inside, and it was fascinating that salt bread could taste so distinctly of potato ㄷㄷ.

I did not get to try the pollock roe salt bread I originally wanted, but the other breads were delicious enough that this Songdo bakery café visit was still satisfying! This cute new aesthetic café in the 1st District gets a strong recommendation for its salt bread!
