Gangneung café with a dog-friendly terrace and homemade patbingsu

Everyone—wouldn't you want to kick off a Gangneung trip with a fragrant cup of coffee and a cool, sweet dessert beneath a blue sky? 😉

On this Gangneung trip, I searched hard for a café where I could fully enjoy the atmosphere with my beloved dog Haengun without feeling self-conscious right after arriving—and found this little treasure!

From the spacious, convenient private parking lot to the wonderfully atmospheric campfire-style outdoor terrace, I fell for the homemade patbingsu (shaved ice with sweet red beans) topped with red beans boiled in-house and mill-ground misutgaru (multigrain powder). Here is my visit to Coffee Dripper (커피드립퍼), a must-visit Gangneung café! 💕

Spacious Parking and a Comfortable Interior

When you travel to Gangneung, it is often stressful circling around famous cafés because there is nowhere to park.

Coffee Dripper has a very generously laid-out private parking lot, so I could pull right in comfortably as soon as we arrived. It made for such a refreshing start! 🚗

Once inside, the space was wonderfully comfortable, with a very high ceiling and plenty of room! The tables were well spaced too, making it perfect for relaxed conversation or an intimate date—everything you would want from a Gangneung date café.

A Campfire Terrace for Relaxing with Your Dog

The outdoor terrace set to one side of the café was especially impressive! Decorated in a campfire style that felt just like a forest campsite, it was full of atmosphere and really made us feel like we were on a trip.

Best of all, dogs are allowed at these terrace seats, so I was incredibly happy to sit beside our pup Haengun and enjoy the fresh outdoor air without worrying about anyone else.

Homemade Snowflake Patbingsu with House-Boiled Red Beans and Misutgaru

There were so many tempting drinks and desserts on the menu that it took some thought, but to cool down in the weather, we ordered the signature homemade patbingsu and a classic iced Americano! When the bingsu arrived shortly afterward, you could see the care that had gone into it right away!

The owner told me that the red beans are boiled at the café rather than coming from a canned product. The misutgaru sprinkled on top is freshly ground at a local mill as well, so my anticipation went through the roof!

I gently scooped up the red beans and misutgaru with the soft milk snowflake ice for a bite, and it was on another level from shaved ice that is just artificially, headache-inducingly sweet 😭

The subtle, refined sweetness of whole red beans combined with the nutty flavor of the mill-ground misutgaru and simply melted in my mouth! It was clean rather than overpowering, and I finished every last spoonful in admiration.

Iced Americano and Lattes for Next Time

The iced Americano, which was a perfect match for the sweet bingsu, showed the skill of a café that really knows coffee! The beans had a rich, full body without tasting stale or bitter, and a pleasant subtle coffee aroma lingered at the end of each sip—it felt like all the fatigue from driving melted away. This is a Chodang-dong, Gangneung café where coffee lovers should be very satisfied too!

As I looked through the menu, the sweet, uniquely presented Choco Cone Latte and the signature Dripper Latte also caught my eye as popular choices! My husband and I have already picked out this signature latte lineup for our next visit with Haengun, haha.

From the spacious parking area where even new drivers can park with ease, to the dog-friendly terrace with a camping mood, the carefully made homemade patbingsu, and excellent coffee, this Gangneung café stop satisfied me in every way! After visiting Gangmun Beach or Chodang Sundubu Village, stop by Coffee Dripper in Chodang-dong, Gangneung, if you want to step away from the crowds for a fragrant, relaxing tea time! ✨
