Gangneung bakery café for ginger latte and milk tea: Baegya Coffee

In short

Baegya Coffee is a large bakery café by Sacheonjin Beach in Gangneung, Gangwon. On a family trip, I tried corn ice cream, milk tea, and ginger latte, with easy parking and thoughtful elevator facilities. Verdict: a lovely stop for bread and drinks with the sea in view.

On a family trip to Gangwon-do, we went for Choi Ilsun Jjolmyeon Sundubu in the morning and happened to stop by nearby Baegya Coffee!! It is already so famous as a huge café. I also visited this summer and last Christmas!

While traveling in Gangneung, I was looking for a café where we could relax and look at the sea, so I visited Baegya Coffee right in front of Sacheonjin Beach. I loved the location from the start—it is truly close to the beach, making it perfect to pop into after looking around the shore!! It is near the Gangneung coast in Gangwon-do, with the ocean spreading out right in front, so the ocean view was absolutely amazing. Even though it was rainy and gloomy, the view was so beautiful!!

What were the parking and interior like?

Parking

There was a huge amount of parking space in front of and behind the building, so it was very easy to visit. The lot was really open when we arrived, but by the time we left, both the parking lot and café were full. Still, there was a parking attendant, so parking was comfortable.

Inside the café

When you enter, the first things that catch your eye are the spacious interior and the wide bakery selection.

Ocean-view seating at Baegya Coffee

Baegya Coffee felt less like a typical small sea-view café and more like a large-scale bakery café. The first floor has the ordering area and bakery, while upstairs there are seats looking out at the sea. The ocean-facing seats looked great for couples, and there were even tables for eight, so it would be nice for a big family gathering too, haha. High chairs and amenities on every floor are well set up, so I recommend it for families with children too!

Isn't the view through the floor-to-ceiling windows so pretty?!!

Ah, the fourth-floor rooftop is a no-kids zone, but it happened to be closed because it rained on the day I visited. That was a shame, but I might stop by next time~~

Another impressive point was the thoughtful facilities for guests. There is an elevator, making it easy to move between floors, and inside it there is even a shelf where you can briefly set down your drink or bread tray!!!!

That is seriously such a thoughtful touch ㅠㅠㅠㅠ I think it would feel more convenient than expected once you use it yourself.

There is even a phone-charging area. When you travel, you take so many photos that your battery disappears in no time, so I charged mine here too, haha!

As you would expect from a bakery café, the bread selection was no joke. Even compared with other bakery cafés, Baegya Coffee had an incredible amount and variety of bread.

Oksigi Ice Cream, milk tea, and ginger latte

The menu I was personally most curious about at Baegya Coffee was Oksigi Ice Cream—corn ice cream, in other words. It is Baegya Coffee's signature menu, so I absolutely had to order it, lol. Just as its name suggests, it is ice cream that brings out the flavor of corn. It has corn's characteristic nutty taste along with sweetness, and the corn kernels give it a nice bite. I would strongly recommend it to anyone who loves corn.

My absolute favorite was the milk tea!! I was the one who persuaded my family to come to the café just for this, haha. Milk tea, Americanos, and tea all tasted familiar, of course, but we also tried a different menu item besides the oksigi one: the ginger latte! It had a gentle hint of ginger's distinctive spicy, warming aroma. The milk's smooth, nutty flavor softened the strong ginger scent nicely, making it easier to drink than expected. The subtle sweetness went well with the ginger aroma, and it was especially delicious served warm. My mom loved it so much, lol. There are menus children would enjoy as well as ones adults will love, so I highly, highly recommend coming as a family, haha.
