Baby-friendly café in Gangneung on a cloudy day: Baegya Coffee
In short
Baegya Coffee is a large three-story ocean-view bakery café right on the Gangneung coastal road. Visiting with a baby on a cloudy day, the writer ordered a corn cream shot latte, an Americano, and a milk cream bread, and found the visit easy thanks to ample front and back parking and a baby chair. The outdoor space and rooftop are no-kids-zones, but the indoor floor-to-ceiling windows alone offer plenty of sea view.

When you travel to Gangneung, it's really about the sea, right? On this trip we visited Baegya Coffee, a big ocean-view café near Gyeongpodae that's great to go to with a baby.

Unfortunately the weather was cloudy on the day we visited. But even on a cloudy day, the sea beyond the floor-to-ceiling windows was so pretty that I found myself staring at it for a long time. With the wide-open ocean view, spacious store, and a variety of bakery items, it was a great place to stop by with a baby during a Gangneung trip.
Baegya Coffee's location and parking — is it easy with a baby?
Baegya Coffee is located right on the Gangneung coastal road, so it's a great spot to stop by while driving around. What I especially liked was the parking!

Even at large cafés, parking can often be surprisingly inconvenient once you actually get there. But here there's a parking lot in front of the store and a spacious lot in back too, which made visiting with a baby comfortable.

And there's an entrance leading straight into the store from the back parking lot, which was really convenient to use.
The floor-to-ceiling ocean view that was pretty even on a cloudy day
The moment I walked into Baegya Coffee, the first thing that caught my eye was of course the wide-open ocean view!

The Gangneung sea stretched out beautifully beyond the huge floor-to-ceiling windows, and just sitting there put me in a good mood. It was cloudy the day we went, so we couldn't see the blue sky and bright sea, but even the Gangneung sea on a cloudy day had its own charm and was prettier than I expected.

If anything, it felt calm and quiet, which made it perfect for sipping coffee and just gazing at the sea. Best of all, with almost nothing blocking the view, the sea spread out in front of us and it really felt refreshing!

The store itself is fairly large, so visiting with a baby didn't feel cramped at all. On a Gangneung trip, it's often hard to decide where to go on a rainy or cloudy day, but being able to sit comfortably indoors and take in the Gangneung sea to your heart's content made this a fine café to visit even on a not-so-nice day.
Bakery selection and what we ordered that day
Baegya Coffee isn't just a café with a pretty ocean view — the bakery selection was really varied too.

There were so many kinds of bread that it was fun just to browse and pick one out. You come in planning to just get a coffee, but the bakery corner makes it hard to just walk past — the visuals get you haha.

That day we ordered a corn cream shot latte, an Americano, and a milk cream bread.
How was the corn cream shot latte?
The thing I remember most from Baegya Coffee was the corn cream shot latte!

I usually love corn-flavored desserts, so I was curious the moment I saw it on the menu and ordered it — and it was way better than I expected. The first sip brings a smooth, sweet cream, followed by the nutty flavor of corn blended with coffee — so, so good, ugh.

It felt a bit like corn ice cream turned into a fancier, richer coffee drink. The Americano was also clean and paired well with the bread.

There are tourist cafés where only the view is pretty while the drinks or bakery are just so-so, but at Baegya Coffee, everything we ordered — both drinks and bread — was delicious, which was really satisfying.
What made it good to visit with a baby, and a note on the no-kids-zone
When you go to a café with a baby, it being pretty matters, but being comfortable matters even more, right? Baegya Coffee has a spacious store and plenty of parking, which made visiting with a child easy.

There are also baby chairs available, so it's fine to visit with a young baby too.

That said, the outdoor space and rooftop are run as no-kids-zones, so keep that in mind if you're visiting with a child.

Still, you can see the sea clearly through the indoor floor-to-ceiling windows, so you don't really need to go outside to enjoy the ocean view. And something I personally remember — the owner was really kind!

When you get this kind of friendly service while traveling, even small gestures put you in a great mood. The café's atmosphere and view were nice, but the kind service made the stay even more pleasant.
Overall verdict
- Wide-open Gangneung ocean view
- Large, spacious café
- Wide variety of bakery items
- Plenty of parking in front and back
- Baby chairs available
- Kind service
- Both coffee and bakery items were delicious
Above all, the sea was really beautiful here even on a cloudy day like the one we visited. If I go back on a clear day, I imagine it'll feel completely different.

Next time I go, I think I'll order the corn cream shot latte again haha. If you want to relax comfortably with a baby near Gyeongpodae or Sacheonjin Beach in Gangneung while enjoying the sea and delicious coffee and bread, I recommend Baegya Coffee!
