Today I'm bringing you my review of Drunken Thai, a famous spot near Yadang Station known for its amazing pho!! The flavors really nail the authentic vibe — from the tableware to the food, it felt just like being in Thailand! Here's my honest review!!

Where Drunken Thai Unjeong Yadang Branch is, and what the room feels like

Drunken Thai Unjeong Yadang Branch is a Thai restaurant located in Unit 108, Yueun Tower 1, on Gyeongui-ro in Paju. It had such a distinctive exterior that it always caught my eye whenever I passed by.

The exterior alone was no joke haha — every time I walked by I thought, oh, this place is the real deal. The distinctive interior always made me want to visit, and I finally made it here..!

The interior was covered in photos of Thailand, and there were about four or five tables total! Tissue rolls hung on the walls and the stylish metal tables with red chairs left a real impression!

Can you eat alone at Drunken Thai near Yadang Station?

Drunken Thai Unjeong Yadang Branch has separate solo-dining seats — bar seats — making it perfect for anyone looking for a place to eat alone near Yadang! When I visited, there were other solo diners too, and having bar seats like this meant everyone could eat alone without feeling self-conscious, which felt really great!!!!!!!

The menu was packed with authentic Thai dishes like pho, pad thai, tom yum goong, curry rice, and more! Plenty of drinks and alcohol too!

Beef pho with a deep, slow-simmered broth

Here's the full spread of what we ordered! We got beef pho and kai moo palo, plus half orders of spring rolls and tod mun goong as sides! And of course, zero-sugar cola haha

This was the first time I'd had pho broth this rich!! Even just looking at it, you could tell it was intense.. and the aroma was seriously strong too..

Just look at those three thick slices of beef and the generous pile of bean sprouts!!!! The broth flavor was so deep and rich it made me wonder if I was actually in Thailand, but there was no overpowering cilantro or spice, so even I found it super delicious!!!! The noodles were chewy, the broth salty and rich — the kind of flavor that just calls for a beer!

What does kai moo palo taste like?

Kai moo palo is a traditional Thai braised pork dish I tried at Drunken Thai. It's made by simmering glass noodles, various vegetables, and pork together! The meat was incredibly tender and tasted somewhat like Korean-style soy-braised pork ribs, which made it a comforting, familiar flavor!! It was also delicious and warm, with a whole egg tucked inside and rice served alongside, so it made for a filling meal!

Sides: spring rolls and tod mun goong shrimp cakes

Last up, the sides!!!! Spring rolls and tod mun goong!!!!!!! Honestly, the flavor made me regret ordering only half portions!!! First, the round fried shrimp rolls were packed full of shrimp meat and super crispy — genuinely delicious!! And the other round fried item felt a bit like Korean fried dumplings, with a super thin wrapper that gave it a great bite!!!!! Highly recommend both... next time I'm definitely ordering full portions........

The verdict on Drunken Thai Unjeong Yadang Branch

I highly recommend this place to anyone near Yadang looking for authentic-tasting Thai food!!! The broth is so rich it really shows the essence of Thai cuisine! It's solo-dining friendly and also nicely decorated for dates! It would even be a great spot to bring parents who are a bit unfamiliar with Thai food! Traveling to Thailand through food haha

And while I was eating, there were also Thai customers in the restaurant clearly enjoying their meal! That probably shows just how well they've recreated the authentic flavors — truly the best..
