Half spicy, half soy pork ribs in Gohyeon, Geoje: Geumson Deunggalbi
In short
Geumson Deunggalbi Sundubu Geoje Main Branch is a Korean restaurant serving pork back ribs and sundubu (soft tofu stew) on Junggok-ro 1-gil in Gohyeon, Geoje. A mother and daughter ordered three servings of ribs split half spicy sauce and half soy sauce, re-grilled them on the tabletop wire grill, and added the vegetable garnish plus complimentary grilled pork skin and kimchi noodle soup. Three servings proved so generous that the two ate their fill and still packed the leftover ribs to take home.

My daughter and I went to Geoje and wanted something delicious for dinner. We ended up at Geumson Deunggalbi Sundubu Geoje Main Branch — since we're both pork rib lovers, I wanted to share how it went.
We were looking for somewhere to eat in the Gohyeon area of Geoje and landed here. The fun part is you grill the pork ribs yourself on a tabletop grill, which felt different from a regular meat restaurant. They also serve sundubu (soft tofu stew) and rice balls alongside the ribs, making it a solid pick for a family meal out.
Where Geumson Deunggalbi Sundubu Geoje Main Branch is, and what the restaurant feels like
Geumson Deunggalbi Sundubu Geoje Main Branch is on the 1st floor at 26-1 Junggok-ro 1-gil, Geoje-si, Gyeongnam. While hunting for a Gohyeon restaurant I could take my daughter to comfortably, this place had a relaxed vibe that made it easy to just walk in and eat.

The inside felt comfortable enough for a family meal. I especially liked that you re-grill the ribs on the tabletop grill to keep them warm, so you get to enjoy hot meat all the way to the last bite.
Ordering three servings of pork ribs, half spicy and half soy
That day we ordered three servings of pork ribs at Geumson Deunggalbi Sundubu Geoje Main Branch, split half in spicy sauce and half in soy sauce. Getting to try both flavors at once was great, and since it was just my daughter and me, we could each pick whichever suited our taste.

Vegetable garnish plus complimentary grilled pork skin and kimchi noodle soup
After ordering, the vegetable garnish came out first, along with complimentary grilled pork skin and kimchi noodle soup.

We grilled the vegetables on the tabletop grill while waiting for the ribs, and eating warm grilled vegetables while waiting was a nice little treat on its own.

The kimchi noodle soup came out too, tangy and refreshing, perfect for waking up the appetite before digging into the ribs. A light bite before the meat really got our taste buds going.

How do the ribs taste re-grilled on the wire grill?
The pork ribs at Geumson Deunggalbi Sundubu Geoje Main Branch arrive already cooked, so you can eat right away. While we waited grilling the vegetables, the ribs finally showed up.
Putting the ribs on the tabletop grill, the sauce had soaked in nicely and tasted great — and best of all, when they cooled down you could just put them back on the grill to reheat.

Re-grilling them a bit made the sauce caramelize slightly and brought out that distinctive pork rib flavor even more. I love spicy sauce so the spicy version really hit the spot for me, while the soy sauce version was salty-sweet with its own charm. Switching between the two, I never got tired of it and kept reaching for more.

Rice balls with the ribs, and why three servings left leftovers to pack
We also ordered rice balls to eat alongside the ribs. A bite of rib followed by a rice ball was a great combo — the spicy ribs paired well with the plain rice balls.
What really surprised me was that three servings turned out to be a lot of food! It was just my daughter and me, but the portion was so generous we ate our fill and still had leftovers. In the end we packed the remaining ribs to take home.
It's not common to pack leftovers after eating out, but that just shows how generous the portions were. Being able to eat it again at home was actually a nice bonus.
Eating delicious pork ribs with my daughter, taking our time over a relaxed meal, and having the fun of grilling it ourselves — it was a satisfying time.
