Jungok-dong pork rib restaurant in Geoje with cheese sari: Geumson

Last day of my Geoje trip!! I was trying to decide what to eat when this menu caught my eye,,,, it just looked so delicious from the photos alone lol T_T So I ran right over!! It's already famous as a Gohyeon, Geoje go-to restaurant, and since they do everything from takeout to delivery, it seemed super popular with locals too haha. Let's go~

Geumson Deunggalbi Sundubu Geoje Main Branch: hours and amenities

Geumson Deunggalbi Sundubu Geoje Main Branch is at 26-1 Jungok-ro 1-gil, 1st floor, Geoje, Gyeongnam, and it's open 11:30–23:00. Break time is 15:00–17:00, and last order is at 21:00.

Where is Geumson Deunggalbi in Jungok-dong, Geoje, and where do you park?

Geumson Deunggalbi Sundubu Geoje Main Branch is right next to the Jungok-dong post office in Geoje. If you head straight through the alley by Jungok-dong Crown Hof and Cheomdan Dolsot Gamjatang, you'll spot it!

There's parking for up to 2 cars right in front. But if that's full!! There's a public parking lot marked in yellow just nearby — though it's usually packed with people and barely any spots left, so it can get pretty hectic. You're much better off using the public parking lot for the Geoje intra-city bus/EV charging station marked in red, about a 3–5 minute walk away!!

The interior has 4-person tables~ The tables are spacious so we ate comfortably without any hassle.

What comes with the wanbeol grilled pork rib set

The main menu items are wanbeol (whole-cut) grilled pork ribs and charcoal spicy bone ribs. There's also a lunch special set, plus a bunch of side dishes~

I ordered 3 servings of wanbeol grilled pork ribs (half soy sauce + half spicy). Ordering pork ribs comes with pork skin + kimchi rolled noodles + garnish as a set!

Each person gets their own small plate for spicy sauce, salt, and teriyaki sauce~ and the spoons were so cute lol

Side dishes included white kimchi, seaweed, pickles, salad, and — since I ordered pork ribs — pork skin as part of the set too! I'm from Jeolla-do where seaweed usually comes with chojang (vinegar-chili sauce), so it was interesting to see it served with a soy-based sauce instead haha.

This pork skin,,, the smoky char flavor was amazing, and it was chewy and tender — so good. A little spicy, but dipping it in soybean flour balanced the flavor with a nutty finish. So good!

The garnish to eat with the ribs included peppers, corn, garlic, paprika, and mushrooms — the colors were so vibrant it was a joy just to look at haha.

And finally, the kimchi rolled noodles~ Not sure if it was thin wheat noodles or corn noodles, but it came with a refreshing broth too, making it a pretty filling set lol.

Any side dishes running low? Just refill from the self-serve bar~~~!

Geoje and Gyeongnam mostly seem to go with Good Day or Daesun soju. Interesting! So I went with Good Day~! Barely any hangover afterward, so it must agree with me haha. And the glasses were adorable too,,,

Three servings, half soy and half spicy: enough for two

Three servings of wanbeol pork ribs (half soy sauce + half spicy). Ta-da!! The ribs arrive!! Geumson serves them already fully cooked and ready to eat. So convenient,,, honestly touched, haha. No wonder it's such a famous Gohyeon, Geoje go-to spot!!

Three servings turned out to be a decent amount, so two of us could eat well and get satisfyingly full.

Put the garnish on the grill and get ready to eat~ Each seat had disposable gloves, and they gave us tongs separately too, so you can eat however's most comfortable for you haha.

Doesn't that charred look so appetizing T_T? And there was a good amount of meat on the bones too!

Look at all that meat once it's off the bone,,, wow. I want more already!!!! Apparently Geumson's signature grilled ribs use Duroc pork ribs with lots of lean meat and beautiful marbling, prepped through a 6-step process and grilled over a wood-fire oven to lock in the juices and umami. Maybe that's why — the meat had this smoky char flavor and was just so delicious!!!!!!!!! Among all the pork ribs I know, this is top,,, top tier,,,

Goes great with white kimchi too — dip it in the sauce, nom nom.

White hotpot rice, 2,000 won

White hotpot rice is ₩2,000. I was thinking about a rice ball, but they had hotpot rice, and it seemed unusual so I ordered it. I only ordered rice, but they still gave me 4 side dishes with it — whoa. That cucumber salad? in particular, mixed in a mysterious white sauce, was a flavor I'd never had before, but one I kept going back for, so I refilled it lol.

Wow, how could hotpot rice not be delicious. Freshly cooked, so the rice grains were chewy with a natural sweetness — really good haha.

How spicy are the spicy pork ribs at Geumson Deunggalbi?

The spicy pork ribs — this spicy flavor was seriously spicy(?) But it's a delicious kind of spicy, so I kept going 'ooh, ahh' and eating more anyway lol.

Cheese sari, 5,000 won: a perfect match for the spicy ribs

Cheese sari is ₩5,000. Imagining how good ribs with melted cheese would taste!!!! I ordered it right away lol. They said you could just put it straight on the grill, so I set it on low heat and melted the cheese haha. I thought the portion might be small, but it was actually more than enough!

As someone who loves mozzarella cheese, this was such a perfect combo lol. Especially amazing with the spicy ribs!

You can see the meat pulling apart, right — wow,,,,, please open a franchise in Yeosu too T_T

Also went great with plain white rice, and the garnish and grilled corn were surprisingly delicious too, so I ended up eating everything haha.

Sneaking in a shot, ta-da,, if only I hadn't been so full, I'd have ordered a soju-beer mix!! A little regret there~

You can put cooled-down ribs back on the grill like this to reheat them, so you can keep eating warm ribs the whole meal haha.

For dessert at the end, even the scorched rice crust from the hotpot rice was perfect~~!

Grilled pork ribs in Gohyeon, Geoje at 12,900 won a serving: is it worth it?

I went to Geumson Deunggalbi & Sundubu Geoje Main Branch, a well-known Gohyeon, Geoje restaurant. The owner was kind, and above all, the pork ribs were so delicious. At ₩12,900 per serving, the price alone is already great value, but with all the set items included, it made for a filling, satisfying meal haha.

It looked like a lot of locals visit too, so if you're traveling in Geoje like I was, this seems like more than enough for a delicious dinner! Ate well, thanks for the meal 😆
