Right in the middle of fiercely competitive Seomyeon, Busan, this bar has been serving up great chicken and beer for over 7 years — a genuine recommendation.

This is Craft Hans, a bar in Seomyeon, Busan. Having survived and thrived for over 7 years in one spot in such a competitive area, you can call it a proven local favorite.

This was my first time actually visiting Craft Hans in person, but I already knew the chicken here was good, so I came in with high expectations.

True to a draft beer bar, Craft Hans has all kinds of beer plus a wide range of snacks beyond chicken — pizza, simple salads, gambas, fried dishes, and more.

A full second floor with a big projector for live sports

Craft Hans in Seomyeon is on the 2nd floor, so you just head up the stairs.

Since Craft Hans uses the entire 2nd floor of the building, the space was spacious and comfortable.

The high ceilings gave it an open, airy feel, and with the windows open, a cool autumn breeze drifted in, making it even more pleasant.

Craft Hans projects sports games onto a huge screen on the wall. Whether it's a weeknight baseball game or a big event like the World Cup or Olympics, this is a great Seomyeon bar and chicken spot to visit.

What we ordered and how the ₩4,000 whole-chicken upgrade works

Beyond the famous crispy chicken, Craft Hans offers all kinds of snacks — simple salads that go well with beer, seasonal fruit, dried pollack snacks, plus pizza, sausage, gambas, and more.

First we ordered the crispy chicken, Craft Hans' signature dish. Here, adding just ₩4,000 to a half chicken gets you a whole one — a whopping ₩6,000 off the normal price, so ordering the whole chicken is far more worth it.

As a Seomyeon bar great for beer and pizza combos, Craft Hans also has a variety of pizzas. We ordered the original pepperoni pizza as well.

The basic side snack was a mild-style hardtack cracker (geonppang).

Terra draft beer, 350cc

At Craft Hans, you can enjoy a variety of world beers and craft beers fresh on tap.

We ordered a 350cc Terra draft beer. In a well-chilled glass with perfectly controlled foam and that sharp, refreshing fizz — it felt so crisp and clean. This is a Seomyeon bar I'll come back to whenever I'm craving beer.

Various sauces to go with the chicken arrived too — pickled radish, house-style pickles, Tabasco hot sauce, and parmesan cheese powder.

How good is the crispy chicken at Craft Hans?

The owner brought out the freshly fried chicken himself. With its golden batter still steaming, I can confidently call it a perfectly fried 'masterpiece.' And this wasn't a small bird either — it was the size of a No. 10 chicken or bigger. That this kind of quality comes at a price in the ₩10,000s range... I'd found a real gem of a place.

True to its name, it was crispy-style, with the wavy, ridged texture of the batter still holding its curl —

exactly the kind of perfect visual you'd see in a TV or print ad. This was fried chicken made properly, with real skill. Its perfect form alone got me excited before I'd even taken a bite.

Naturally, I reached for a drumstick first. Pulling back the crispy batter revealed pure white, moist chicken meat inside — a clear sign of how fresh it was.

The batter was crisp and savory like a potato chip, while the meat inside was salty and spicy from a properly done brine — so delicious.

It was truly the textbook definition of chicken with perfect seasoning and a perfect fry. I kept saying, over and over, how delicious and well-fried it was. The breast meat especially, sliced nice and thick, was light yet tender, soft, and moist — so good.

I'm strict when it comes to chicken, and I guarantee this — you'll be fully satisfied once you try it.

Original pepperoni pizza on a thin crust

The menu didn't specifically say the pizza had a thin crust, but I was hoping for thin crust since it pairs better with beer — and sure enough, it came out thin-crust. A place that's survived this long clearly knows what it's doing.

Thick cheese and generous pepperoni on a thin crust — the salty toppings and light dough made for what I think is the ideal combo for beer.

The cheese stretched beautifully with a springy pull, showing just how fresh it was — such a nice touch. The pizza was delicious too.
