Today I went back to Mokhwa Silbi, the place I visited once before and ate a killer mille-feuille nabe.
When you're looking for a bar in Seomyeon, a lot of places have you order one side dish and just drink — but this place is really set up so you can handle both a full meal and drinks in one go.
Best of all, what I ate that day was the 2-person signature set, which comes with mille-feuille nabe, shrimp chive pancake, and pineapple sorbet — and having all that for ₩48,500 was pretty great. The set is ₩4,000 cheaper than ordering everything separately, so if you want to try a few things, going with the set is the better deal!

Inside Mokhwa Silbi: atmosphere and seating
Overall it has that casual bar vibe, so it's good to come with friends or as a date spot for drinks and snacks.

There was a bit of a greenhouse-style outdoor seating area, and three fans were whirring away.

Inside it has more of an upscale vibe. It's really spacious, so it's possible to fit group tables too.

The free starter at Mokhwa Silbi is muksabal, chilled acorn jelly soup
I liked it starting from the basic side dish. This is one of the reasons Mokhwa Silbi is good — the basic side dishes are old-style ham and mukguksu (buckwheat jelly noodle soup). It's the real deal!!

The broth is tangy and refreshing like cold noodle soup broth, with jelly noodles in it — it's the kind of flavor that wakes up your appetite before drinking, so I kept reaching for it. Honestly I wanted a refill of just this, haha. It's cool and tangy, so it's perfect as a drinking snack especially on a hot day.

They even give you a cute swan-shaped ladle and ice water..😍 But that ladle kind of made me feel obligated to prop it up carefully, which was a little uncomfortable, haha.
What comes in the 48,500 won 2-person signature set?

Two free highballs if you arrive at Mokhwa Silbi before 6:30 pm

And personally, I think this place is a highball hotspot. But even more — if you arrive before 6:30 pm, there's an event where you get two free highballs, so make sure to time your visit. (We ended up doing an opening run, haha.)
Mokhwa Silbi's mille-feuille nabe comes with rice noodles too

And of course, when it comes to Mokhwa Silbi, it's the mille-feuille nabe. I came here for this before and it was delicious, so I ordered the same thing again this time.
The cabbage and meat are layered so it looks packed full, and it looked pretty generous in portion even from the first look. Before it boils, it's basically a vegetable shower.
The broth isn't too strongly seasoned — it's on the moderate side. At first it feels clean, but as you keep boiling it, the flavor from the ingredients seeps in and the broth gets richer and richer, which I liked. And dipping it into the special soy sauce made for the mille-feuille nabe really brings out the umami.
The mille-feuille nabe comes with rice noodles included, so you can eat filling all the way to the end. For ₩48,500, getting this much is definitely more convenient than ordering things separately at a bar!
Shrimp and chive pancake: honestly better than the nabe

The shrimp chive pancake looked crispy as soon as it arrived, and it really was super crispy.

The outside was fried crisp, giving it a great texture, and the combination of chives and shrimp worked really well together.
There was a good amount of shrimp, but personally I'd have preferred slightly larger shrimp even if the quantity were a bit less...!
Honestly, I didn't expect much, but this was better than the mille-feuille.

It's perfect for picking at little by little while waiting for the mille-feuille to boil. My friend has this habit of mixing beer and soju 1:1 whenever something tastes good.
Pineapple sorbet closes out the Mokhwa Silbi set
Next up, pineapple sorbet~~ I'd only had pineapple sorbet at chicken-and-beer places before, but this one has more of it and it's tastier!!

Finishing off with something sweet and cool after drinking felt like it cleaned out my whole mouth. It has that signature pineapple tartness, so it's perfect for wrapping up after the greasy pancake or hot nabe. It's included in the set too, so there's no need to look for dessert separately ⋆。𖦹 °.⋆❀˖° ༄。°
Verdict: a huge-portion, great-value Seomyeon bar for a hungry night
Owner, are you making any profit here?😂 With this much food for this price, I'm going home stuffed to the point of fainting... The staff were also incredibly kind, to the point of being almost too polite...
For anyone looking for a bar in Seomyeon, or a date spot in Seomyeon, I really recommend Mokhwa Silbi!
