Private rooms and soju at a Marine City Chinese restaurant: Bueokgan

In short

Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch is an ocean-view Chinese restaurant in Marine City, Haeundae, Busan, on the 2nd floor of the Subyeon Best Pork Gukbap building. On a weekday evening the writer ordered beef brisket jjamppong (woo samgyeop jjamppong, spicy seafood noodle soup) for 12,000 won and small black vinegar tenderloin tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork) for 28,000 won with soju, but the window seats were already full, so the ocean view barely showed. With private room-style group seating, Bueokgan Chinese works well for gatherings, work dinners and family meet-ups.

I stopped by Bueokgan Chinese, a Marine City favorite located on the 2nd floor of the Suybeon Pork Gukbap building. This time I came for dinner, and it's a Chinese restaurant with a wide range of menu items to try.

Can you still see the ocean view at Bueokgan Chinese in the evening?

Bueokgan Chinese is also famous as an ocean-view Marine City restaurant, apparently ,, if you want to eat while looking at the sea, I'd recommend visiting during the day. I went in the evening, so unfortunately I didn't get to properly see the ocean view 😭

The moment I stepped inside, I could really feel that upscale Chinese-restaurant atmosphere. Red and black mixed together for a real, authentic Chinese restaurant vibe, if that makes sense ~??

Window seats and private rooms at Bueokgan Chinese: book ahead

Even though I visited on a weekday evening, the window side at Bueokgan Chinese was already full ㅠ Naver reservations are also available, so if you have a specific seat in mind, it might be good to book ahead. I really ,, need to come back during the day.

Room-style group seating, good for gatherings and work dinners

Inside there's also room-style group seating, so it's good for visiting with a bigger group. The atmosphere is nice too, perfect for gatherings or work dinners. If you need a private space, it could work well as a meet-the-parents restaurant too :) ʕ•ᴥ•ʔ

How much does the menu at Bueokgan Chinese cost?

I looked at the basic menu, the kind of dishes that represent any Chinese restaurant — jjajangmyeon (black bean noodles) was 8,000 won, and woo samgyeop jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup with beef belly) was 12,000 won. I expected the prices to be steep given the upscale atmosphere, but they were more reasonable than I thought, which was nice. Jjamppong lovers, today's your day ~~~

Black vinegar tenderloin tangsuyuk (small), 28,000 won: a gentle tang

Bueokgan Chinese's black vinegar tenderloin tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork) comes pre-sauced by default. Since the sauce uses Chinese black vinegar, it had a gentle tang rather than the sharp sourness of a typical tangsuyuk sauce.

Once the black vinegar sauce hit the crispy-fried tangsuyuk, the flavor felt a lot deeper and richer. Even though it comes pre-tossed in sauce, the crunchy texture of the fried coating was still intact, so it was really good.

It also paired really well with soju, so I was glad I ordered it as a light side dish 🤍

Beef brisket jjamppong, 12,000 won: smoky wok flavor, generous toppings

When drinking, you've got to order something with broth, no question hahaha. So this time I went with Bueokgan Chinese's woo samgyeop jjamppong. The moment I took a sip of the broth, that smoky wok-fire flavor hit hard ,,🫢

It's packed with beef belly, seafood, and vegetables — every spoonful of broth brought up a bunch of ingredients with it, the portions were that generous haha.

Hahahahaha, I slurped those noodles down properly .. The broth was nice and spicy too, it felt like it was helping with a hangover even while I was drinking, so the soju kept going down smoothly.

Is Bueokgan Chinese Marine City worth a weekday dinner?

Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch was great as a filling standalone meal, and it also paired well with soju as a drinking companion — a solid Marine City restaurant either way. Next time I want to come during the day and properly enjoy the ocean view while I eat ,, if you're looking for a Marine City restaurant or a Haeundae Chinese restaurant, I recommend Bueokgan Chinese.
