Ulsan large café birthday party with a chocolate cinnamon roll: MUG

On the weekend, after having Eonyang bulgogi with my parents and kids, we went looking for a café and ended up at MUG in Eonyang, Ulsan. It's a large café with spacious indoor and outdoor areas, and one side is packed with all kinds of bakery items 🫶 It was busy since it was the weekend, but there was plenty of seating, so it was great to spend relaxed time with family!

Where is MUG, and what is parking like?

MUG is located at 90 Hyangsandagae-ro, Sangbuk-myeon, Ulju-gun, Ulsan. True to a large Ulsan café, there's an incredibly huge parking lot, so no worries there 🚫

Even though it was right after weekend lunch and there were a lot of people, the parking space was so plentiful it wasn't inconvenient at all. (Whew... the weather was seriously crazy ㅠㅠ)

A café rebuilt on land damaged by wildfire

I thought MUG was just a regular large café, but it turns out it was a building damaged by wildfire, newly remodeled into this space.

It kept traces of the original building while looking overall clean and stylish, which made it even more impressive.

At the café entrance there's a small pond...? With sculptures in the water, giving it a real gallery feel! (So fancy ✨️)

MUG is a kids care zone. Maybe that's why bubbles come out on weekends, but when I visited it was broken, so I didn't get to see it ㅠㅠ

Near the entrance of this Eonyang, Ulsan café, there's also a small gallery-like exhibition space, with various paintings hung on the wall, so it was fun to look around happily! (I love this gallery vibe 🫶)

Could we get a table at MUG on a weekend?

Being a large café in Eonyang, Ulsan, the scale is truly enormous!

It was packed with guests since it was the weekend, but there were so many tables that we could find a seat without much trouble.

There were window seats with views of the blue sky and garden, but we passed since there were a lot of us! If you're four or fewer, go for it!!

Inside the café there's a restroom that is seriously... so fancy!!!! The hand dryer is a Dyson lolㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ😎

And!! There's a separate space for changing diapers. (This kind of thing is so precious ㅠㅠ)

What bakery items does MUG have?

And this Eonyang, Ulsan bakery café has bread lined up in rows.

There was a bigger variety of bread than I expected, so I spent a long time debating what to eat!!

✅️ There are trays, knife & fork, and plates and a microwave are also available.

Why we chose MUG's chocolate cinnamon roll instead of a cake

That day was my sibling's birthday, so we planned a small birthday celebration at the café. We looked for a cake, but unfortunately there wasn't one 😭

But that's when we spotted the chocolate cinnamon roll! The chocolate on top looked just like a candle flame, so it went straight onto the tray 🫶

By the time we visited, a lot of the bakery items had already sold out.

When I went back later, the shelves were suddenly full of bread again! Every type of cinnamon roll fully stocked!! (Aㅠㅠ I never got to try the lemon cheese one....)

It seems like they keep baking and restocking, so if the bread you want isn't out yet, I'd recommend waiting a little 👍

On the wall by the ordering counter there were photos of all kinds of drinks, so I had total decision paralysis 🤣

The packaging was pretty too, so opening each one was fun in itself 🫶 More than anything, the kids' reaction was great! It's simple, so I really recommend trying it ㅋㅋ

How the four breads and three MUG smoothies tasted

We had definitely already eaten our fill of Eonyang bulgogi... so why did we end up with 4 items 🤣ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

We used the chocolate cinnamon roll in place of a cake for the birthday celebration 🎉

We also ordered various drinks — MUG lemon smoothie, pear smoothie, plum smoothie, iced americano, and more!

Since we went from adults to kids, everyone picked what they liked, and it was nice that there were so many smoothie flavors. The pear smoothie tastes like freshly blended pear, and the plum smoothie and MUG lemon smoothie are delicious!! The iced americano was good too 🫶🫶

Outdoor seats under the trees at MUG

The spacious, high-ceilinged interior was great, but what my parents and kids loved most was the outdoor area behind MUG!

There were really a lot of tables outdoors too, and the seats were set up under trees, so it wasn't as hot as I expected.

Sitting under the lush green trees, the atmosphere was relaxed and lovely. On the way up we looked at loofah plants growing, and my sister and the kids got absorbed in Pokémon Go!

My parents enjoyed it and the kids didn't feel cooped up, so it was perfect for a family visit.

Is MUG worth it as a family outing in Ulsan?

We were wondering where to go after Eonyang bulgogi and ended up finding MUG! The space is spacious with high ceilings, giving a healing kind of feeling, the bakery and drinks are varied, and above all, the relaxed outdoor atmosphere under the trees was so nice 🫶

It's great for visits with everyone from parents to kids, so as a family outing course it was totally satisfying. If you're looking for a large bakery café with good vibes among Eonyang, Ulsan cafés, be sure to stop by MUG too!
