Seongsu tea café with chocolate butter sand and mugwort tea: T Coffee

In short

T Coffee is a quiet tea and coffee café on basement level 1 at 159 Achasan-ro in Seongdong, Seoul, midway between Seongsu and Konkuk University stations. The order was a lemon shiso mugwort tea and a chocolate butter sand, and the butter sand's dense, crumbly filling was the best butter sand the writer has had. Even underground, floor-to-ceiling windows let daylight in, so T Coffee works as a calm Seongsu café for working or taking a break.

Where is T Coffee in Seongsu?

T Coffee is a quiet café in a basement space at 159 Achasan-ro, Seongdong-gu, Seoul, roughly midway between Seongsu Station and Konkuk University Station. It wasn't a bad walk to get there.

Interior atmosphere of T Coffee café in Seongsu

Found a quiet Seongsu café for once 🤍 These days there are so many tourists in Seongsu that Koreans can barely get into the nice cafés anymore… ㅠㅠ So as a sad Seongsu lover, I was thrilled to find a café that was genuinely calm, pretty, and had a great vibe 🌿 It's called T Coffee.

Sunlit seating area at T Coffee

It's a quiet café where you can soak up a relaxed atmosphere and bright sunlight. The coffee, tea, and desserts here are all genuinely delicious, so if you're looking for a calm, tidy-mood café in Seongsu, I really recommend it… I kind of want to keep this one to myself so it doesn't get too famous 🌿

You just head down to the basement level, and right next door there's Pizza Slice with a similar mood — I thought you could eat there first and then come here for coffee, haha.

Even though it's underground, the space is designed really well so you can still enjoy this bright floor-to-ceiling window view — that's a big plus. The owner was super kind, too.

Choosing the lemon shiso mugwort tea and one of T Coffee's 5 desserts

What I picked from T Coffee's menu was the lemon shiso mugwort tea. The bean aroma smelled so good the moment I walked in that I thought about getting an americano, but then I saw a tea called lemon shiso mugwort tea and ordered that instead — the fragrance was really lovely 🌿

Flip to the next page and there are 5 kinds of desserts — 2 of them are sand cookies. You can also see cheesecake, scones, biscuits, and pistachio cream choux to choose from. I went with the mugwort tea and a chocolate sand cookie (the chocolate sand is unbelievably good, you have to try it ❤️).

All the other desserts looked delicious too. I genuinely stood there deliberating for a while. But I told myself you always try the basics first, so I ordered the sand cookie.

It has this kind of mood, and I loved it so much 🌿🌿

Is T Coffee quiet enough to work in? Music volume and restroom

T Coffee is a quiet Seongsu café where even the music, sound, and restroom are well taken care of. They must be using really good speakers because the sound quality was excellent 🐾 Oh, and the restroom here was reeeally clean and pleasant ㅠㅠ It was so spotless I wondered if the owner has a bit of a cleanliness obsession, haha ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

The overall mood of the café was calm and tidy, which I loved too 🫧

How does T Coffee's chocolate butter sand taste?

T Coffee's chocolate butter sand was the best butter sand I've ever had. My tea and the chocolate butter sand arrived!

Chocolate butter sand showing its dense filling

The butter sand was bigger and thicker than I expected. The filling inside was really dense and packed, haha. But it was different from the butter sands at other dessert cafés…! The crumbly texture and flavor gave me a total 'wait, why is this so good' moment, ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

It was genuinely, ridiculously delicious. I'm already obsessed with butter sands normally, but this one is the best I've had so far — and now I'm curious about their other desserts too!

This one is... the number one café in Seongsu in my heart 🌿 I admit it…!

I'd really recommend going during a relaxed time slot. This is seriously a mood-lifting café !!!!!!
