Busan gukbap restaurant, blood sausage soup for two: Geumsu Dwaeji

My husband and I went out for a hearty bowl of gukbap (Korean soup with rice) just the two of us today. The weather was cool with a gentle breeze, the kind of day that makes you crave warm broth. So without much thought we headed to Geumsu Dwaeji Gukbap, known as one of the go-to gukbap spots near Kyungsung University.

Where is Geumsu Dwaeji Gukbap in Nam-gu, Busan, and what is the restaurant like?

Geumsu Dwaeji Gukbap Gyeongseong-Pukyongdae Branch is located at 12 Suyeong-ro 346beon-gil, Nam-gu, Busan, 1st floor. It's not far from Kyungsung University·Pukyong National University Station and sits right in the restaurant alley, so it wasn't hard to find.

Walking inside, the place was much brighter and cleaner than I expected.

None of that old-fashioned gukbap-joint feel here — the tables were spaced generously too. It's a space where couples like us, families, and groups can all sit comfortably.

I especially noticed they had a baby chair ready, and thought I should bring our daughter next time.

What the couple ordered: pork soup and blood sausage soup, 9,500 won each

We sat down and looked over the menu.

There was a good variety on offer — pork soup, blood sausage soup, offal soup, and mixed soup. My husband ordered the blood sausage soup and I ordered the pork soup.

It's nice when the two of us order different dishes because we can share a bit of each. The boiled pork looked really good too, but we were too full, so that'll have to wait for next time~

The basic side dishes — kimchi, radish kimchi, chives — came out looking clean and fresh too.

Kimchi, radish kimchi, chives, and thin noodles can all be grabbed as needed from the self-serve bar, and rice refills are unlimited, so it was easy to eat a full, satisfying meal.

You can order directly from a pad at the table, and if you want, they'll bring you welcome makgeolli (rice wine) too. (Since it was lunchtime, we passed on that~)

How does the pork soup taste? A clean broth with no gamy smell

Not long after ordering, two piping hot bowls of gukbap arrived right away.

The broth was milky and rich but not as heavy as I expected — the first taste was clean. What I liked most was that there was no trace of that distinct pork gamy smell at all. It was a clean, savory pork soup.

Both the meat and the blood sausage portions were really generous — just looking at it felt filling, and by the end we were genuinely full.

I seasoned mine with a bit of salted shrimp, and there's also chili paste (dadaegi) on every table, so you can adjust it to taste.

Adding chives brought the flavor up another notch. The portion is so big that if you mix in rice, the broth almost overflows haha

My husband usually doesn't leave much broth behind, but this time he cleaned his bowl completely. Even as a self-proclaimed gukbap lover, he admitted Geumsu Dwaeji Gukbap was delicious haha. We only ordered two bowls between us, but the portions were so big we ate until we were completely full.

Hours, parking and other visitor information

Geumsu Dwaeji Gukbap Gyeongseong-Pukyongdae Branch is open from 9 AM to 2:30 AM the next day, with last order at 1:50 AM. It's fairly accessible near Kyungsung University·Pukyong National University Station, but there's no on-site parking lot, so if you're driving, you'll need to use a nearby paid parking lot.

Being able to freely refill side dishes and thin noodles at the self-serve bar made things convenient, and the inside of the restaurant was kept clean too. Best of all, since they have a baby chair, I'm planning to bring our daughter along next time for a family visit. Mixing rice into that broth would disappear in no time haha.

On a cool day like this, when you crave a hot bowl of soup, pork soup is the answer~ There are plenty of gukbap restaurants near Kyungsung University, but Geumsu Dwaeji Gukbap really stood out — the location, the atmosphere, and the taste all worked.
