While hunting for good Korean BBQ in Mokpo, I finally made it to Simdon, known as a Mokpo Pyeonghwa Square restaurant favorite. There are so many restaurants around Pyeonghwa Square that I had a hard time deciding, but this time I was craving meat, and after some searching, decided on Simdon‼️

When it comes to meat, the best menu is definitely the one where you can try several kinds at once :) That day I ordered the best-selling Simdon mixed grill platter, and of course finished it off properly with fried rice at the end✨

Walking in, I immediately felt that distinct BBQ restaurant atmosphere. It's the kind of place that makes you feel 'I came here to eat meat,' so I told myself let's really eat well today hahaha

It was almost fully booked and we nearly had to wait, but luckily got seated right away, phew~

Here's how the basic side dishes come out~ The beef brisket doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) was so delicious that once I mixed it with the kids' rice, they finished the whole bowl 👍🏻

What we ordered was the "Simdon mixed grill platter"

It's a menu where you can enjoy several kinds of meat at once, so when the platter landed on the table, it looked mouthwatering just from the visuals. Especially when you're visiting with several people who each want something different, ordering the mixed platter has the advantage of letting everyone taste a bit of everything 👍🏻 (This time too, my husband and I wanted different things, so we went with the Simdon mixed grill platter✨)

It came out already cooked but they said to grill it a bit more. Meat really does make you happy from the moment it starts cooking✨ You know what the most exciting moment is when you come to a BBQ restaurant, right? hahaha The sizzling smell of meat cooking really stirred my appetite,, ah I want to eat it already‼️

Each cut had a slightly different texture and flavor, which made picking and choosing fun! As it grilled golden on the pan, that savory meaty aroma rose up, the outside got a bit crispy while the inside stayed juicy,, words fail me✨‼️✨‼️

Especially as you chew, it's clean-tasting yet rich with that distinct meat flavor — it worked well wrapped in lettuce, and also just dipped lightly in salt to enjoy the meat's own taste! I followed the recommended way of eating it, sometimes wrapping it, sometimes eating it plain, enjoying it however I liked💖

You know how with meat, at first it's so good you keep eating, but at some point your stomach starts filling up? But ending there feels like something's missing. The finale of a BBQ meal has to be fried rice, right? 😋

Ordered the fried rice without a second thought!! Why is fried rice after meat always this good,,!! Even when your stomach's fairly full, there's always room left for fried rice, you know?🫢 The flavor left behind from the meat blended into the fried rice and gave the meal a proper closing act! Really good🌈

Spoonful by spoonful, before we knew it, even the fried rice was wiped clean✨ The combo of finishing meat off with fried rice really is hard to mess up haha

The staff were really thoughtful — seeing our little one, they gave us kids' juice and kids' seaweed snacks🫢 The staff were genuinely kind,, and that thoughtfulness won me over even more💘 haha
