Suyeong café for an early brunch and chicken sandwich: Working Holiday Minrak

In short

Working Holiday Minrak is an ocean-view brunch café in Suyeong, Busan, at the end of Gwangalli Beach. On a return visit at 10 a.m., I had Margherita pizza, an Ultimate Chicken Sandwich, and an iced café latte while taking in the spacious interior. Verdict: a great pick for a filling Gwangalli breakfast and a nutty latte.

Ocean-view brunch at the end of Gwangalli Beach

I really, really recommend Working Holiday Minrak (워킹홀리데이 민락) as a Gwangalli brunch café..! I had visited before with a friend and loved it so much. It is the kind of place that makes you think, “There’s somewhere like this in Gwangalli?”—and even this Busan local was totally satisfied. I recommend it even more as part of a Busan Gwangalli trip.

Working Holiday Minrak is in Millak-dong at the end of Gwangalli Beach, so it is a fantastic ocean-view brunch spot.

What is the atmosphere like on the seventh floor of Badamaru?

Working Holiday Minrak is on the seventh floor of the Badamaru building! As soon as you ride up in the elevator, Gwangalli Beach is right in front of you... Even as someone from Busan, I think it is so, so lovely, but I imagine Gwangalli seen from Working Holiday Minrak must feel even better for travelers.

Why it is great for breakfast in Gwangalli

Because it opens from 9 a.m., I also recommend it for breakfast in Gwangalli. I visited around 10 a.m., and there were already so many guests. It is quite a large café, but it was already packed!!! I thought, everyone is seriously so productive.. If you are visiting Busan, I think it would be so nice to stay near Gwangalli and have breakfast here.

You can tell the owner truly cares about interior design, so it was fun just looking around the café! It is huge and has such an open, airy feel, so I would recommend it for group gatherings in Gwangalli too.

The Margherita pizza and Ultimate Chicken Sandwich combination

Brunch order
Pizza and sandwich brunch

We ordered the Margherita pizza and Ultimate Chicken Sandwich at Working Holiday Minrak, with an iced café latte and Zero Cola to drink. Having brunch while looking at Gwangalli Beach felt genuinely relaxing. Ordering both pizza and a sandwich meant we could enjoy a nice variety of dishes, which I loved.

Is the Ultimate Chicken Sandwich filling?

A sandwich is a must for brunch, of course. Since this one has chicken, it was nice that we could order it with pizza and still enjoy different kinds of food without the menu feeling repetitive. It was a satisfyingly substantial choice when you want a sandwich as a full meal. The arugula smelled wonderful, and the thick avocado and chicken patty inside made it feel really filling.

When you order the Ultimate Chicken Sandwich, you can choose either salad or soup as your side. Since we were having pizza too, I thought salad would work better, so that is what I chose! The dressing was bright and distinctive, which I liked.

And please do try the latte at Working Holiday... It is so nutty and delicious, without that murky aftertaste. I would go just for the latte ㅠ I officially approve of it as a great latte spot in Gwangalli.

How the wood-fired Margherita pizza tastes

Margherita pizza is a simple, clean dish built around the classic combination of tomato and cheese. Since it is one of the lighter pizza choices, I think it suits brunch really well too. The basil on top was incredibly fragrant, and above all, because it is wood-fired pizza, that wood-fired aroma was just so good!

Wood-fired Margherita pizza

A pizza that is delicious right down to the crust.. The wood-fired aroma is so, so good, and it is light, nutty, chewy, and savory all at once—so even the crust tastes great on its own. When you want to enjoy a relaxed brunch in Gwangalli, I recommend the pizza-and-sandwich combination at Working Holiday Minrak!

The Margherita pizza let us enjoy pizza lightly, the Ultimate Chicken Sandwich filled us up, and with an iced café latte and Zero Cola alongside, it made for a complete and satisfying meal.
