Pet-friendly terrace couple set at Anseong Chinese restaurant Chibao

This is a review of a delicious lunch I had while visiting Anseong Starfield. Both the 1st and 2nd floors of Anseong Starfield are packed with great places to eat. Today I headed up to the 2nd floor to eat Chinese food — my daughter #2, who loves Chinese food, was the one who picked this.

Where Chibao is in Starfield Anseong, and its hours

Chibao sits right at the center once you walk into Ittopia, the food court on the 2nd floor of Starfield Anseong. It was easy to find. The address is 2F 2318-ho, 3930-39 Seodong-daero, Gongdo-eup, Anseong-si, South Korea.

It's open daily from 10:00 to 20:00.

The Ittopia food court on the 2nd floor of Anseong Starfield is a very spacious, comfortable space, good even for eating solo.

It's positioned conveniently so you can order and sit right down, and there's a drink station and a sink for washing hands right across from it — a comfortable spot to eat at this Anseong Starfield favorite, Chibao.

At this Anseong Starfield lunch spot, Chibao offers various set menus, including the couple set and a solo value set.

Since we were two people eating lunch, I ordered the couple set. Both the couple set and the value set come with a mini tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork) included.

While waiting a bit after ordering, there was a fire show happening in the kitchen — I really picked the right Anseong Starfield spot, wow. Looking forward to that smoky jjamppong.

Couple set review: yuni jjajangmyeon (minced pork black bean noodles)

My daughter picked jjajangmyeon, and I picked jjamppong, so let's dig in.

Chibao's jjajang is yuni jjajang (black bean sauce with finely diced vegetables) — the kind of jjajang that's great for mixing with rice for kids.

The seasoning wasn't too salty, just right, and the noodle portion was more generous than at other Chinese restaurants. The noodles were also firm and chewy. Being chewy, they didn't get soggy easily, so you could enjoy the springy texture the whole time you ate.

My daughter, who loves yuni jjajang, scraped the sauce clean off the plate.

She said it was delicious and ate it happily.

How spicy is Chibao's jjamppong, and how big is the noodle portion?

For me, Chibao's jjamppong has a savory smoky flavor cooked into it.

I tasted the broth first. The spice level is about like ramyeon — a moderate amount of heat. There's a good amount of vegetables, seafood, and meat in this jjamppong.

The noodle portion in the jjamppong is generous too. One serving felt like a large size.

The mini chili tangsuyuk in the couple set

When you choose a set at Chibao, you can pick the tangsuyuk sauce in one of two flavors: original or chili. I went with the chili tangsuyuk. It's a slightly spicy sauce over crispy tangsuyuk.

The tangsuyuk portion was just right for the two-person couple set. Nothing was lacking, and we finished it all together. We were a bit full afterward, but it was so good we just polished it off haha.

The meat inside the tangsuyuk was thick and tasty too. The couple set turned out to be a really well-balanced combination for two people 👍

Pet-friendly terrace tables outside the 2nd-floor food court

We ate at a pet-friendly table on the outdoor terrace on the 2nd floor of Anseong Starfield. The weather was great and there was no wind, so eating Chinese food outdoors made it taste even better.

I'd recommend eating at the 2nd-floor terrace tables at Anseong Starfield from September through early October. The air is nice and it just feels like a more uplifting space to eat in, which somehow makes the meal taste even better.

This was my first time using the 2nd-floor terrace tables, and I was very satisfied with the space.
