Chinese restaurant lunch before Aquafield in Anseong: Chibao

Went to Starfield Anseong with friends for the first time in a while! Before heading into Aquafield, we wanted to fill up first, so while searching for a lunch spot at Starfield Anseong I found Chibao!! It was way better than expected, so here's my review haha.

Where is Chibao inside Starfield Anseong's Itopia food hall?

Chibao Starfield Anseong Branch is inside Itopia, the food hall on the 2nd floor of Starfield Anseong!

Once you walk into Itopia and head toward the center, it's really easy to find!

Itopia itself is a spacious place with tons of seating, so it looked great for group get-togethers as well as for eating comfortably alone.

Chibao is a brand that combines authentic Chinese cuisine with Taiwanese dishes, built around the idea of sending customers home full!

Our order at Chibao: 2-person couple set plus beef tantanmen

The menu lineup was solid and good value, so after some deliberation we put together a pretty hearty combination!

The food we ordered came out quickly, and it looked so good my mouth was already watering~!

It really came out generously portioned, which was perfect for our goal of filling up before Aquafield haha.

Shrimp fried rice: fluffy grains and plump shrimp

First up, the shrimp fried rice!! The rice wasn't mushy at all — nice and fluffy — so it paired well with the jjajang sauce too, and biting into shrimp here and there gave it great texture!!

Personally, when I order fried rice at Chinese restaurants I tend to hold back if it's too greasy, but Chibao's fried rice was light enough to eat alongside other dishes without feeling heavy — and it was so tasty!

The shrimp were also super plump and there were plenty of them!!

How does Chibao's yuni jjajangmyeon (minced pork black bean noodles) taste?

The yuni jjajangmyeon (minced meat black bean noodles) had a sauce that was smooth and savory, and it really soaked into the noodles beautifully.

Since yuni jjajang includes finely minced meat and vegetables, the sauce felt a bit softer/smoother than regular jjajangmyeon~!

It wasn't overpowering — a clean, well-balanced flavor — so we emptied this bowl first in no time haha.

Beef tantanmen with extra chili oil: how spicy does it get?

The beef tantanmen we ordered as a single dish had really deep flavor.

The rich, savory peanut sauce and the perfectly spicy chili oil blended together just right, making the broth kind of addictive.

There was also plenty of beef topping, so piling it on top of the noodles made for a really filling, generous bowl haha.

It's already delicious as served, but since we like spicy food we added extra chili oil!!

The chili oil we got by requesting it from the owner!! Drizzled it on generously to boost the savoriness and heat!!!

It had been a while since I had tantanmen, and this was genuinely so good~!

How much mini chili tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork) comes with the set?

And of course, no meal like this is complete without tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork)~! We had the mini chili tangsuyuk included in the 2-person couple set.

Since it's the mini size that comes with the set, the portion isn't huge, but it was actually just the right amount to pair alongside the jjajangmyeon and fried rice!!

The batter stayed crisp, and the meat inside had a nice chewy texture too~! Best of all, the chili sauce gave it a slightly spicy-sweet edge compared to regular tangsuyuk, which cut through the richness — totally recommend it!!haha

Was Chibao a good lunch stop before Aquafield?

We visited before heading into Aquafield with friends and finished absolutely everything we ordered, down to the last bite. The food came out fast and the overall value for the portions was great, so I think I'll stop by again whenever I'm here for shopping or fun!!
