Gwangju Italian restaurant with scallion-jambon pizza: Bueokgan

I had pasta and pizza at Bueokgan Sangmu Branch, a great brunch spot in Gwangju's Sangmu district, and it was such a satisfying meal—the atmosphere was lovely and the food was absolutely perfect 💕

For parking at Bueokgan, there is a dedicated lot behind the building. If it is full, you can also use the Mudeung Church parking lot, so there was no need to worry about parking.

An Italian vintage classic hotel concept

Bueokgan Sangmu Branch was designed around the concept of a vintage classic hotel in Italy!

Such an atmosphere-driven place 🥰 It would be great for a gathering or a date, and as a Sangmu district brunch spot, it had such a lovely mood for brunch too.

The space was decorated throughout with charming vintage props, so it was fun just looking around too.

Bueokgan Sangmu Branch menu and weekend visit

Bueokgan's menu consisted of Western-style dishes such as salads, pasta, rice dishes, steak, and pizza. There were set menus too, making it a good-value option.

You can also receive a pastry pie through the Naver receipt review event, so it seems worth joining.

I visited at around 2 PM on the weekend, and the tables were almost full. By the time I left, most people had gone, but you could see the traces of a full turnover, haha. Definitely deserving of its reputation as a Sangmu district brunch spot!! 👍

Shrimp rosé pasta and Pema-nong jambon pizza

I ordered the shrimp rosé pasta and

the Pema-nong jambon pizza. The pizza's appearance in particular was absolutely explosive...🐲

The shrimp rosé pasta was packed with shrimp and button mushrooms, and both were plump and so delicious, haha.

I wondered whether the sauce would be spicy, but it was not—it was simply a delicious rosé sauce.

The noodles were cooked just right too, and it felt like it had been a while since I had eaten truly delicious pasta 🥹

There was lots of pasta sauce left, so I ordered bread and dipped it in the remaining sauce. It was just perfect 😆

Pema-nong jambon pizza with scallion spread and honey

Pema-nong is the Jeju dialect word for green onion. This pizza is baked with scallion spread and jambon, then served with honey and scallions.

I love green onions, onions, garlic, and things like that, so I chose it after seeing the menu photo and description—and it was a complete success..!! 👏 👏 It was totally, completely my style.

The scallion spread tasted like green-onion cream cheese, and the jambon was tasty too. The honey added sweetness, but the scallions kept it from becoming too rich 🫰🫰

The Pema-nong jambon pizza was so delicious that I feel like I could eat it every single day without getting tired of it, haha.

I also really loved that it was piled high with scallions 🤣 Even a middle-schooler who absolutely hates scallions tried it and said it was delicious, so I totally recommend it, haha.

Bueokgan Sangmu Branch was a place where I could enjoy delicious food and an atmospheric setting together! It would be great for a date, and with high chairs available, it also seemed perfect for a family meal.
